Our flagship tracking studio features four isolated, acoustically-distinct environments in a highly-configurable layout. With its vintage 48-input Neve 8088 console and excellent sight lines, it’s an ideal environment for recording ensembles large and small. The live room, with its raw pine ceiling vaulting to 25 feet, is the largest of the recording spaces. At 550 square feet, it can host eight brass and five woodwinds comfortably. The rhythm room is second-largest, and tightest in acoustic character. At 350 square feet, it’s large enough for a bassist, drummer, and percussionist to perform together. Only slightly smaller is the bright-sounding string room, sized to host a string quartet, horn section or grand piano. Both the string room and the rhythm room can be coupled to the live room by opening removable partitions. The isolation booth, situated between the string and rhythm rooms, has excellent visibility to both. Its 16-foot vaulted ceiling ensures ample air volume for the low notes of a double bass, and makes a wonderful-sounding vocal booth as well. Studio A hosts our 1896 Steinway C concert grand piano, which is easily moved to any of the three largest tracking spaces. Analog (Studer A800) and Digital recorders are both available.
