Our second-floor loft is in a unique, sunny space over the entrance to historic Gin Alley in the West Loop of Chicago. The main space is a 25' square featuring huge windows overlooking Peoria Street on the West, and the length of Gin Alley on the East, with Juliet balconies that open alley-side for the best breeze. We keep 6 tables and 28 chairs to very comfortably seat 28. Larger groups can be accommodated for events that do not require tableside seating (like a musical event or speaker panel). Our space has been used for seated instructional classes like calligraphy, watercolor, joint-rolling, crafting, makeup, gua sha, and more. With tables pushed aside, we've utilized the empty space for meditations, yoga, dance, film screenings, musical performances, baby massage, speaker panels, and vendor markets. We've filled our space to the brim with plants - we've been propagating our own pothos, spider plants, and monstera for years - you'll see them snaking along the walls and climbing up the ends of our shelves. It's an essential part of our vibe, but not just for aesthetics - plants filter the air and trigger biological processes that reduce stress hormones like cortisol. It truly is a haven that embodies the wellness and self-care that we intend to foster. We have a newly renovated (in 2024) bathroom and kitchen (an additional 325 sq ft together), complete with sink, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettles, a mini fridge, and another original window. Both of these spaces were finished to be customer-facing, but the kitchen could also be used for staging snacks, prepping marketing materials, or as a storage area for bags, boxes, and coats. Our space shares its main entrance with two other (appointment-based) second-floor businesses, and is then accessed by one flight of stairs, or by elevator. From the second floor, there are five additional steps to our private entrance, which is a unique sliding glass door. This separation from West Loop foot traffic helps events feel secure and truly private.

Outside of Peerspace, our space is open for retail and our own events, so we have a staff that has regular cleaning tasks to keep everything tidy, clean, presentable, and hygienic. It includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, running a dishwasher, full kitchen and bathroom cleans, and the sanitization of any shared products used during our events.
