Art Gallery/Studio in a Historic Country House on One Acre

This historic home, built in 1870, is the site of Prairie—an artist-run studio, artist residency, and art gallery. The space can be used for wedding shoots, maternity shoots, graduation portraits, birthday shoots, commercial projects, and more. The house sits on one acre surrounded by large oak trees and is minimally appointed with primitive antiques. The space feels like a blend of paintings by Vilhelm Hammershøi and Andrew Wyeth, with beautiful light throughout the day. There are three private studio rooms, each with a single daybed or bed and a desk. Guests also have access to a shared living area and dining room. The house has five fireplaces, two of which are in private rooms. This is a very intentional, peaceful, and quiet space. Its interior design is inspired by Shaker style and wabi-sabi—not only in aesthetics, but in the philosophy of embracing imperfection. I built Prairie to help people reconnect with nature, and in turn reconnect with themselves, so they can work toward their unique purpose without distraction. I am a painter and both live and work in the house. Guests may stay overnight for up to two weeks through Airbnb. The residency is open to all types of creatives, including writers, horticulturists, florists, and designers.
