The Door in the Floor Studio is a Detroit-based editorial loft built for photographers, filmmakers, and creators who care about light and space.
The studio features large windows that bring in consistent natural light throughout the day from multiple directions, creating depth and variation without the need for heavy setups. The space is designed to be flexible. You can shoot clean and minimal, or build into something more controlled and intentional.
High ceilings, exposed brick, textured walls, and original wood floors give the space character without overpowering the subject. It works as a backdrop, not a distraction.
The layout is open and easy to work in, with room for full lighting setups, backdrops, and movement between scenes without feeling tight. Whether you’re working with natural light or bringing in your own gear, the space supports both.
Amenities include a full kitchen, two bathrooms, a dedicated makeup and prep area, wardrobe racks, and styled furniture for lifestyle and branding shoots. The Detroit Riverfront is just outside for exterior shooting when needed.
This is a working studio. Built for people who want to create, not just rent a room.
