    About Taylor Terrace

Built in 1898, Taylor Terrace is a Gilded Age, Renaissance Revival style mansion that functions as a private home, while offering 6,500 square feet of authentic historical event space on "Millionaire's Row" in Old Louisville. The home was fully restored in 2025-26, with a careful preservation of many historic elements. The mansion was home to Col. Marion E. Taylor, owner of the Old Charter Distillery and president of Wright & Taylor Kentucky Distillers, and honors his legacy as major philanthropist in Louisville and beyond. As an event space, the mansion is ideal for film projects (feature-length films, art films and music videos), photo shoots, brand launches, product launches, and lifestyle photography. Taylor Terrace can also be utilized as a high-end venue for a small dinner party, bourbon tasting, corporate retreat, or fundraiser. Original features in the home include Victorian-era furnishings and fine art in a variety of architectural styles: Third Empire (Dining Room), Louis Seize (Parlor), Adam / Jacobean / Tudor (Smoking Room), Dutch Revival (Morning Room), Arts & Crafts (Reception Room) and Art Nouveau / Belle Époque (Library). The setting and staging of the home recalls historic brownstones in Boston or Manhattan. The paneled Smoking Room, refitted in 1911, mirrors similar rooms in an English Manor House and strongly favors the interior fittings of RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic. The conservatory is partially open air. Additionally, specific rooms at Taylor Terrace can be staged to appear Renaissance or Tudor era, French Revolution / 18th Century European, "Age of Innocence" American Robber Baron / Gilded Age era, or Pre- and Post- World War One Era (British or American). Other features include a small garden, courtyard, terrace and covered porch, off-street parking, driveway access, and easy options for locating scaffolding and exterior gaffing for film lighting. Production designers are welcome to use select furnishings and antiques or art provided onsite.
