Most event spaces feel like event spaces. This one feels like the best dinner party you’ve ever been invited to. Picture it: the chandeliers turned low, the table set for twelve, something good coming off the stove. The kind of night where everyone lingers at the table long after dessert, then drifts to the couch, not quite ready to go home. It’s the first floor of a restored 1910 home in Sharpsburg, five miles from downtown Pittsburgh, with the kind of warmth, atmosphere and character no banquet room can fake.
THE SPACE
Kitchen: a 36" commercial gas range with plenty of room for a private chef, a caterer, or a hands-on cooking class
Dining room: seats up to 12 for a sit-down dinner
Living room: for drinks before dinner and conversation after
Entryway and a first-floor powder room with a vessel sink set into an antique dresser
Dishware and glassware for 18 included
WORKS WELL FOR
Dinner parties, private chef and supper club nights, corporate team dinners, milestone birthdays, cooking classes, small showers, and photo or video shoots. Seated dinners max out at 12; standing cocktail-style events work for 20-25.
A LITTLE HISTORY
The house was built by Jacob Litz of Litz & Schramm, a condiment maker who went head-to-head with H.J. Heinz, whose own home stood on this same block. I’m only its third owner, and I spent seven years restoring it myself.
GOOD TO KNOW
Bookings include the first floor only; bedrooms and upstairs are not part of the space
Free private driveway parking for up to 8 cars
Five steps up to the front porch and one into the house; no ramp
I live in an attached unit with its own entrance, so I’m close by if anything comes up
