How We Put an End to Boring Holiday Photos

When you think back to your family’s holiday card growing up, what comes to mind? Awkward poses? Weird matching outfits? Forced smiles? At Peerspace, our team had similar flashbacks. That’s why this season, we decided to gift people a holiday card they’d actually want displayed on their friend’s fridge.

We invited our community to enter to win the Ultimate Holiday Card, complete with a professional photoshoot and printed cards, courtesy of Paper Culture.  For the shoot, we rented out one of our sunlit studios and worked with photographer, Melissa de Mata.

So how does one go about capturing the holiday spirit in a photograph? We talked to Melissa to get her expertise, saying, “I believe that it’s the photographer’s job to set the tone for the session. It’s important to leave all your stress and worries behind during those precious moments and simply bask in the fun bubble you create for your clients. Also, I smile A LOT. People subconsciously mimic facial expressions and it helps even if I’m behind the camera to smile.”

Take a look at some of our favorite photos from the shoot. We guarantee the results are anything but boring.
