WELCOME TO OUR STUDIO A recording studio located in a landmark building in Berlin’s northern Buch district, we offer all services from songwriting to pre-production, session musicians and arrangers, to the actual recording, mixing, and mastering of your record. We also do voice actor and audio book recording, vocal tuning, drum editing, sound design, audio restoration and denoising. As an additional service, we can also film your sessions at the studio. The studio is 130 m2 and contains three dedicated tracking rooms, a control room, a lounge area, bathroom, kitchen and a storage room. Situated in a commercial zone, we can work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CONTROL ROOM The bright and spacious control room is optimised for mixing and recording. The control room also offers direct sightlines to the three tracking rooms, so that up to four groups of performers can perform sonically isolated while still in visual contact. A studio with a great vibe! With our hybrid setup, we record through a range of vintage preamps into our DAW of choice, Steinberg Cubase. We also utilize a mixture of plugins and hardware during the mixing process to offer you the best of both worlds. SEVERAL TRACKING ROOMS The three adjoining tracking rooms can easily accommodate 3 to 12 musicians and offers excellent sight lines between the rooms and into the control room. We offer a broad range of outstanding drum kits, amps, guitars, basses and various keyboards. A studio with a great vibe! A wide selection of top microphones and a wide range of killer outboard audio equipment ensures top-tier signal paths so that you have everything you need for an outstanding recording experience. FULL MUSIC SERVICES We cover the gamut from songwriting to pre-production, booking session musicians and arrangers, to the actual recording, mixing and mastering of your record. We also offer basic audio services such as voice actor and audio book recording, vocal tuning, drum editing, sound design, audio restoration and cleanup. SONGWRITING, COMPOSITION & PRE-PRODUCTION We come from a rich background of performing and songwriting. We would love to help you develop your musical ideas in advance, so that your time spent recording is time spent well (hint: you spend less money!). In our experience, this results in music that is satisfying, deep and spirited. RECORDING For us, this is the crucial moment where we attempt to capture the sonic essence of human interaction. Naturally, we always utilize outstanding signal chains (microphones, preamps, converters), but we prioritize recording unique musical expression over pure gear fetishm. One of our specialities is recording rhythm sections of 2-4 musicians simultaneously, this generates enormous synergies (it grooves better!) and eliminates many time-consuming overdubs. MIXING We have a hybrid setup with various choice pieces of analog outboard connected to a state-of-the-art digital audio workstation. If a track call for reamping and gritty layering through hardware, we’ll gladly do it. But if in-the-box sounds great, it is great. We’re not snobs or purists, we’ll do whatever sounds best! SESSION MUSICIANS We offer a unique opportunity to work with some of Germany’s finest session musicians/producers. Contact us for more details! These are people with many decades of dedicated experience under their belts who can deliver unique performances with the tight organic feel that can only come from teams that have worked together for years. OTHER SERVICES Many of the jobs in audio processing are unspectacular but they have to be done. These include tasks such as vocal tuning and editing, drum editing, recording voice artists, creating commercials, eliminating noise and disturbances from recordings, restoring archive material and so on. We have many years of experience in these fields, so do not hesitate to ask us for help! MASTERING & FINALIZING Once everybody agrees that the mix is great, it’s time to master and finalize the recording and/or project. In recent years, much has changed in the mastering world, you may have heard about the so-called “loudness wars”. The good news is that audio no longer has to be excessively limited and compressed to compete, since all major streaming and online services (Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Tidal etc.) now offer normalized loudness. We are familiar with the rules set out in EBU R 128, and have experience mastering for these new requirements.
