About the Space

MINNEWASKA PARK CHALET On the hills of Shawangunk mountains next to a park, an ideal location for filming, arts workshops, sabbaticals, retreats, meetings, and events, with majestic views of ancient forest, rocks, and waters, in a high-end, secluded nature’s getaway, upstate New York. All-in-one options, indoors and outdoors, ranging from rustic lifestyle, Nordic sports, sabbatical retreats, arts/media productions, group retreats and events, family life and romance. EXTERIOR The landmark farmhouse, recently revamped as guesthouse, is nestled on the foothills of the Shawangunk mountains, on a 2-acres lot, towered by ancient woodlands and fenced by dense trees and lush bamboos, at the end of an uphill, asphalt road. This unique topography, on a gently sloped land, keeps the house, the pool and the garden hidden from driveways, parks and neighbors’ houses. The property is bound to the West by a rushing stream -Palmaghatt- a Dutch name, that serves as a picturesque border with the Minnewaska State Park. A private footbridge over Palmaghatt waterfalls leads to history-filled, hilly trails, stonewalls, boulders and limestone cliffs; a pristine lake at mountain summit; and mushroom grounds whose locations are secretly guarded. From North-South, the property garden is planted with majestic, white pines, tall spruces, maples, bamboos, high grasses and evergreen bushes, perennial plants; and spiked by architectural details. And a contrasting meadow land on the South that A rustic porch, a series of stone-steps from house to garden, and tree-lined paths tie together a unique topography with a charming building. A surrounding porch, a seasonal heated pool, decks, a BBQ grill, a hammock, tables, chairs, benches and lounging chairs lend to instant immersion in nature, and large garden. A balcony, a wrap-around porch and a pool deck offer dramatic views and scenic sunsets of the park tree line, thanks to a mountain stream that bounds the property to a State Park, to the West. A private, exclusive footbridge overlooking waterfalls, gives access to the state park trails and forest. The decked, heated pool is naturally fenced by dense lilac and gigantic trees. The balcony opens to panoramic views of the garden, the park and waterfalls. This spot is blessed with spectacular sunrises, sunsets, full moons, star gazing; and a therapeutic, nature’s sounds-scape.
