Built in 1921 but rumoured to have been secret gambling den and a brothel behind the "corner market" facade, this charming heritage building is the perfect backdrop for timeless shoots. Used for filming Juno and Nancy Drew plus frequent photo shoots, the character of the venue provides a unique texture as a filming/ photography location. Over the years the space has been refreshed and modified yet never fully renovated, lending it that rare historic quality that is hard to come by in the city of Vancouver. The furniture can be moved around quite easily and there are lots of great props and staging backgrounds. The front of the shop has a lot of natural light and the white walls and high ceiling of the shop reflect that well. The feature wall in the plant section of the shop floor is painted dark green, providing a rich contrast to the rest of the shop and complimenting the hardwood furniture and wall art in that corner of the room. The primary shop floor is the largest space in the venue, but through an open doorway in the back the secondary room is accessed. This serves as further retail space housing the clothing collection. Opposite walls are lined with clothing racks and a glass cabinet in the centre holds jewellery and other oddments. The walls in this room are painted a vivid orange. Two further spaces fall within the floor-plan of the venue but aren't used as retail space. At the far rear is a storage/ workshop are. Through a door in the secondary room is access to a 'staff'/ kitchen area and a private bathroom, as well as further storage. We do also have access to a large back yard, but any use of this area would require a discussion and agreement with the other tenant of the building who also shares the space.

Due to the age and condition of the building, as well as the nature of it's contents, guests should not expect a hotel standard of cleaning. However the premises is frequently cleaned to the standard of a household, with floors hoovered, surfaces dusted and cleaned and lavatories and wash areas kept sanitary. We ask that guests would leave the space as they find it.
