Dedicated in 1876, the historic building is the only local synagogue listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The first floor of the synagogue is dedicated to the Museum’s orientation gallery, an interactive exhibit exploring the history of Jews in the DMV. On the second floor is the historic sanctuary, restored to reflect its late nineteenth century elegance, complete with original floors, pews, and paneling. The perfect setting for a micro-wedding, mitzvah, or breakout session, the sanctuary can seat up to 100.
