Frequently Asked Questions

Explore Vancouver bank locations for film shoots

Banks are some of the most iconic filming locations essential for any production. They are very familiar to the public and add realism to the plot. One problem with banks, however, is that they are very intensive to design when it comes to props. If your movie has a bank heist and you want a classic looking vault, it isn't so easy to find those for sale. Banks, particularly in the heart of downtown, also have architectural flourishes that make them beautiful sets to work in.
That means your best options are either filming in an authentic working bank or booking a movie set designed to look like one. Both approaches have their upsides and downsides, so let's see what Vancouver has to offer!

Find film-friendly banks in Vancouver for rent

Film-friendly banks are the best way to have access to a believable set. Many banks have policies that allow filmmakers to work on their grounds. You will have to abide by their ground rules, however. Typically you won't be able to film during regular business hours. If natural light is important to your production then that might limit you to weekends or Sundays only. You'll also need to hire a police officer or two to ensure everything happening on-site is legitimate. If your movie is set in a historic building, however, then an authentic bank is by far the best option!

Discover bank sets for filming in Vancouver

Another way to include a bank in your film is to reserve a video studio designed to look like one. Many Vancouver film production companies keep sets filled with props to replicate banks, restaurants, prisons, and other equipment-intensive scenes. Instead of having to source all of your own props for a single scene, you can book a bank set, which is far more cost-effective!
Bank sets have another advantage to offer: they are designed with the needs of filmmakers in mind. Instead of having to hunt around for power outlets and good angles for light, you'll find ports and light sources in all of the right places. The props and furniture in a bank set can also be moved around to your liking, unlike a regular bank, which may not allow you to make too many adjustments.
Lastly, bank sets for filming are very convenient to rent. You can be filming inside of a set in as little as 24 hours if it's available and for as little as a few hours of rental time. A working bank, on the other hand, will take days or weeks of coordinating with the business owners.
