This space is modern minimalism at its finest, luxurious design with all natural materials. Although it only has four rooms, it is a powerful example of a conversion that is as aesthetically appealing and luxurious as it is conscientious. Anke’s story is one of true transformation, both of space and personal daring, to create a place that exudes and allows goodness. This space is perfect for your next: • Weddings (*must book for 12 hour minimum*) • Corporate Event • Yoga Retreat • Wellness Retreat • Dinner Party • Wine Tasting Inspired by Balinese and Japanese architecture, the hotel is the product of multiple architects hailing from Canada, Zimbabwe, and Brazil. Intended to harmonize the twelve human senses according to Rudolf Steiner’s theory, including those lesser known, like temperature and balance, the micro-hotel is itself a study in design as an equilibrium of self, space, and earth. The eco-conscious space boasts all natural and non-toxic materials, recycled and locally sourced where possible. Everything has been thought of, from Zero VOC paint and compostable trash bags to metal-free beds. Anke employed local green builders to bring her vision to life. Sustainable aerobarrier glue, spray-in cellulose, and the latest Mitsubishi mini splits were used to insulate and reduce energy consumption. All exterior wood is burned shou sugi ban style for natural fire prevention, and all interior wood is reclaimed or naturally beetle killed and/or naturally treated. The bathrooms are designed by Cecilie Manz with Duravit. The decor is equally aspirational and expressive of the four elements (earth, air, fire, and water) with supple organic fabrics and wools and touches like wallpaper from recycled shoe leather, cork walls, tiles made from recycled ocean plastics and volcanic ash, and handmade mohair throws that fund art therapy for developmentally disabled children. Inspired by the warmth and aesthetics of Mexico, Anke has sought out hammocks, ceramics, rugs, lamps, and coffee makers from artisans in Oaxaca, Ixtapa, Tijuana and Guadalara.
