Airy , Rustic Cottage on a Mountain Homestead

Beloved for photo shoots and filming, our unique & stylish cottage is built of local and salvaged material in the side of a mountain in Virginia’s Blue Ridge, minutes from Nellysford and Wintergreen Ski Resort. The airy, vaulted space features large beams, a light made from an old Victoria Bell, repurposed shop drawers, concrete countertops, and a vintage stove. The kitchen wall is clad in antique barn wood, and the windows are topped with wormy antique chestnut. The doors and windows were all salvaged, and the bathroom has a claw foot tub with a lovely patina and antique stained glass windows. The space is thoughtfully and simply furnished to be flexible and easy to clean. The vaulted porch is roofed in antique barn wood with a Moravian star, and the front porch includes a hand-built cedar hot tub. There are many books, and a secret bookcase that connects the cottage to the art studio. The main space peaks at around 18 feet, and the first floor is 540 square feet. The bedroom is separated from the main room by an antique glass door, and the bathroom has two entrances, both pocket doors, with a small laundry room off its side. The loft houses a double bed, a folk art rocking chair, vintage dollhouse, and children’s books and games. Large wooden windows flood the space with western light, while the studio’s light is northern and southern. Not only is the cottage one of the highest performing in the state, it’s also adjacent to beautiful art studios and on a small homestead with Mountain Views. The art studios and land can also be available, but know that we, the owners, live above the cottage in an old farmhouse. The views are exceptional above our house.
