Entertain in the chef’s kitchen and open concept living room, grill and dine on the expansive outdoor deck overlooking the private valley, relax in the hot tub or pool, hit the games room for a round of pool, and explore acres of rugged, walkable fields, sloped hillsides, tree thickets, and marshland. Mendocino beauty Only two hours away from San Francisco, this thoughtful home was designed to embrace the area’s stunning, natural beauty, its brilliant night stars and the diversity of the ecological landscape. Stellar Jay Valley is named for its most vibrant neighbors, the blue jays who inhabit the surrounding valley forest, and in honor of their many animal friends: the acorn woodpeckers, squirrels, deer, frogs, and songbirds who call Stellar Jay Valley home. The large deck with dining tables overlooks the valley floor where an ancient and gnarled Valley Oak tree presides and is fitted with a netted tire swing suitable for kids and adults. These Valley Oaks are the largest oaks in the US and this huge tree must be a great-great grandfather. Chef’s Kitchen with a Viking stove and huge island In the center of the kitchen is a massive island which is equipped with a small sink, making it ideal for shoots or entertaining while preparing food. An eight burner Viking range and double oven, new fridge, drinks fridge, new Bosch dishwasher along with brand new high end, farmhouse basis sink, refrigerator, built-in dishwasher, drink fridge, concrete island with separate sink, along with new kitchen cutlery etc. Ecologically minded The house is off-grid and solar powered and equipped with a large biodiesel/diesel backup generator for use if the daily solar power energy gets depleted. Water is pumped in from a nearby well, and is used to heat the home with in-floor heating. There’s also a wood fireplace available for use during the wet season. Outdoor activities In addition to hiking and exploring on the property, there is a winter seasonal creek bed with a small 50’ zipline that is accessible and suitable for children. There is a tetherball court on grass near the house, along with a horseshoe court. Privacy Stellar Jay Valley is located in a private community that is sparsely populated with miles of views, woodland hills and flats, a semi-private lake. The house is down a long gated, private driveway with fencing that provides privacy from the private road that is shared by only a handful of similar large properties with homes that are out of sight. The house is surrounded by a deer fence which makes it perfect for pets to explore and run. Guests are required to remain on the 50 acre property during their stay beyond driving in and out of the property along the association’s shared private road. Guests must be aware that they are not authorized to explore the private roads of the association or any other private property belonging to neighbors.
