Casa Bizarra is a historic adobe house built in 1933 by Allen Balch as a speculation. Previously known as the Stratton Adobe, it was once home to well-known Twentynine Palms homesteaders John and Alice Stratton, as well as a host of other colorful early desert dwellers. This home has been featured in the book ‘The Adobes of Twentynine Palms, written by Pat Rimmington – adobe expert, author, and Twentynine Palms local. Furthermore, a former resident claims that world-reknowned American landscape photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams stayed in the guest house while he photographed what was then Joshua Tree National Monument! At first sight, you will feel the impressive presence of the three boasting architectural columns in front that remains true to its build origins in the 1930s.
