The Edgemont Barna are well suited for events, weddings, meetings, retreats and gatherings. Gorgeous compound built in 1900 with great views of Lake Champlain, and 20 acres of gardens, meadows, and woods. Hosting four separate homes and two barns, with two separate entrances onto the property, one of which serves a large, private parking lot. Ideal as large family compound or for events such as weddings. The newly renovated 4000 square feet barn is situated on the south side of the Edgemont compound and is the first building coming up from the second driveway, which has access from Lakeview Avenue rather than Edgemont Road, and has a large private parking lot that can host at least 60 cars. The new barn is a perfect event space that has an air-conditioned dressing room, bathrooms for each gender, a commercial kitchen, bar, and dining and dancing space for 200 people. All around the barn there are decks perfect for sitting out or serving cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The loan on the north side of the barn is designed for hosting large ceremonies, and the loan on the south side has a firepit and two large areas for playing and hanging out, a professional grill for cooking for large events, and spacious gardens and woods for relaxing walks and taking amazing pictures. The property meadows, woods, and fields have fruit trees, pine trees, vegetable gardens, various wooden structures, firewood storage sheds, tool sheds, a rustic “lean-to”, gorgeous stone walls wrapping around the property, benches, and streams, which make it an idyllic place for relaxing and escaping the busy routine. This compound, with four houses, many sleeping areas, two barns, multiple kitchens and event spaces, horse stalls, fruit and vegetable gardens, woods, lawns and gardens is easy to use for any private gathering, can be rented as a whole, and each building can be also rented separately. The main house is a Victorian with a round tower, wrap-around porch on two sides of the building facing the lake, another smaller porch on the kitchen-side entryway, and wood burning fireplace. This house has 4 bedrooms with in-suite bathrooms, a powder room and laundry on the first floor, and an additional full bath and laundry in the spacious finished attic. The first floor has two entrances, one from the kitchen side, with a convenient mud room adjacent to the laundry room, and the main entrance from the garden side, a large eat-in kitchen with lake views and high end appliances (Miele, Aga, Elmira), a dining room with coffered ceiling in Italian “cassettone” style, a pool table room with large bay windows, and an elegant and ornate original staircase leading to the second floor. The second floor has access from both the kitchen and the main lobby and hosts four separate bedrooms with in-suite bathrooms, one of which has two double beds. The third floor is a large whole-floor finished attic, with its own full bath, laundry room and closet, that can be used as private suite, with an office in the tower, or as a large common sleeping area for several guests. Outside the main house there are large gardens with a firepit, perfect for enjoying outdoor nights and stargazing. The renovated “horse cabin” features wall-to-wall windows that allow a feeling of being outside while being in. It has a porch wrapping around two sides of the house, perfect for eating out and sitting on Adirondak chairs. The first floor of the horse cabin has a master bedroom with in-suite bath, eat-in kitchen with a large food-prepping and breakfast island, a dining area with a table seating 12, and a living area with a couch that can convert into a bed. A staircase leads to a lofted area on the second floor which has a full bed and a large desk and opens to a deck that is on top of the south facing porch. On the second floor there is another bedroom with in-suite bathroom and laundry, and two queen size beds, with gorgeous views on the fields and a neighboring farm. Between the main and the horse cabin houses there are a 100x50 feet original barn with a separate 2 bedroom apartment, and a two-floor carriage house for tools, sport equipment, and bikes. The property was built by George D. Sherman, son of and heir to the co-founder of the Witherbee-Sherman Mining Company, and an avid breeder and trainer of race-horse. The old barn still has the original horse stalls from 1900. The south side of this barn has a sunny, finished deck with stunning views of the property, suitable for large gatherings, or for quiet sitting and reading. The north side of this barn has a separate apartment with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a large eat-in kitchen and a very large living area or family room, that can be also used for parties and meetings. Next to the original barn there is a smaller one-bedroom house, that faces a large field on its the west side, facing Lake Champlain. It has a spacious kitchen-living area, bathroom, laundry room, and bedroom, and can be used for additional guests.
