Stonehaven is a 1930s stone Tudor estate on its own stretch of the Delaware River, two hours from New York City, set on over 100 acres of private forest. It gives you a house, a river, a forest and a cabin on one property, so you can shoot several different looks in a day without a company move.
The house has a vaulted great room with a 14-foot stained-glass window, a stone fireplace big enough to stand in, wood paneling, a built-in library and a Steinway grand. The dining room is wood-paneled and looks out over the river. There’s also a country kitchen with hand-painted tile and three bedrooms, all with river views. It reads as English country, old money or period, a look that’s hard to find this close to the city.
Outside, a lawn runs from a stone terrace up to a gazebo. Below the house is a wide, flat private river beach, and the river is good for wading, casting and sunset. A barrel sauna and a cedar hot tub sit above the river and photograph well on their own: steam in cold air, snow or fall leaves, and the valley behind.
Beyond the lawn, the land goes wild. Trails run through ferns and stone walls to a brook, a one-acre pond, old bluestone quarries, rock formations, small caves and a one-room hunter’s cabin with a fire pit. We also have more river frontage that guests never see and keep for productions.
Dogs are welcome on set. The river, the trails and the fireplace all suit pet campaigns.
