Modern, Industrial, Eclectic, All-Black House

Haven House was designed to be a moody, peaceful retreat from the bright Florida sun. All the walls and ceilings inside are painted matte black, giving both an expansive and cocooned feel as they retreat into the background, allowing the art, objects and people within to be highlighted. Special attention was given to the lighting (much of which is “smart” and dimmable, with many light bulbs operating on the full color spectrum). The 2900 square foot home was built in 2024, and it contains a great room with a gas fireplace, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an office, and boasts a completely private courtyard at the front and a large screened in porch at the back. The floorplan is unconventional, with the primary suite containing a huge open closet/dressing room, giant shower, and separate “spa” room with a massage chair, soaking bathtub and oversized vanity. All décor within the home is designed within a vibrant and cohesive color scheme, allowing for art, small furniture, linens, throw pillows and objects to be moved from room to room seamlessly. This home also provides a unique backdrop for a variety of filming and photography needs due to some vintage and antique features, such as a wooden carpenter’s bench attached to the kitchen island, an aircraft carrier door embedded into a wall (that fully opens to reveal a niche full of glass shelves), a ship porthole in the kitchen wall, and various wooden and metal card catalogues.
