One of the extremely rare private backyard gardens on Malibou Lake. Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, this lake house (or lakehouse, if you prefer!) is so secluded that even your sound person will appreciate the tranquility. It’s close enough to the city for cast and crew convenience—PLEASE NOTE: the 1955 Lyman (the wood boat in the pictures) will be out of service for repairs until Feb 18, 2026. It is not available for use prior to that date. However, the sailboat is at the dock and ready for your shoot! The yard must be seen to be believed. Fenced on two sides and bordered by the lake on the third, it offers total privacy. Xeriscaped with lush, flowering bushes that bloom seasonally, the space is framed by towering trees that canopy the stone walkway leading to a private wood dock (complete with a charming fountain along the path). The dock itself is spacious enough for production setups and features a unique blend of wood, concrete, and rock along its perimeter. In peak summer, it basks in direct sunlight for hours, while the rest of the day enjoys a soft, diffused glow as the sun arcs behind the trees. This is an upscale, private lakeside location—ideal for romance, comedy, or general Americana, especially stories set at a lakehouse or waterfront. The property doubles as a mountain cabin (one crew even used it as a stand-in for Canada, thanks to the foliage) or a modern boho-chic retreat. Whether you need waterfront action, indoor scenes, mountain views, or an intimate Malibu garden, this location delivers. IMPORTANT PRODUCTION NOTE: The Malibou Lake Mountain Club (the lake's governing body) requires a club site representative to be present for all production shoots, regardless of size. This is a mandatory lake-wide regulation. Site Rep Fee: $500 per day (paid directly to the club, not included in our location fee) Important: This rule applies to ALL productions at Malibou Lake.
