Modern luxury mansion nestled in the woods

This 10,000 sq ft single family dwelling (built 2022) represents modern luxury at its finest, set in the woods on a 6 acre parcel of land surrounded by nature. Inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House, this home is an architectural feat, constructed of custom structural steel, 115 ft of oversized glass doors, white ACM panel, burnt wood shou sugi bahn paneling, and live green roof to wrap the exterior in a timeless palette that reflects the naturalized landscape. Clean lines run throughout the design aesthetic of this home, including the 17 ft chef’s kitchen island, 15 ft bespoke gas fireplace, suspended floating staircase and cantilevered second floor perpendicular to the ground floor. This modern mansion is nestled in a private location with plenty of parking space and no direct neighbours. The abundance of natural light coupled with modern finishes and cozy furnishings creates an inspiring environment for gatherings, meetings, dinners, photoshoots, and more. Weirs Lane is our poster project for how we envision the new work from home era. The clients on this project are business owners in the creative industry. They gave us free reign to create their forever dream home/work studio on this phenomenal 6 acre parcel of land in Dundas. Heavily inspired by Mies van der Rohe, the simple box design is encased in glass, white ACM panels and burnt wood shou sugi ban to wrap the exterior in a monochromatic palette that reflects this naturalized live/work environment. The simpler the form, the more complex the build – and this design was no exception to the rule. In order to create clean lines, there was a massive investment in custom structural steel, 12ft doors, 12ft walls and over 115 feet of glass just on the one view wall.
