Headquartered in the historic Hallidie Building— America’s first glass-curtain-wall building, designed by Willis Polk and completed in 1917— our space is the Bay Area’s leading cultural destination for all things architecture and design. The space provides a comfortable and beautiful venue for day and evening events, with enough space for up to 291 total attendees. We’re centrally located in downtown San Francisco with easy access to public transportation on both local and regional systems. Individually, the Lecture Hall has a capacity for 106 attendees and the Conference Room has a capacity of 30-44 attendees. The Storefront Café and Gallery can host up to 69 attendees. The Vault Meeting Room holds 14-24 attendees. The Lecture Hall features state-of-the-art AV + acoustics and lighting to accommodate events in various configurations. Video can be played via HDMI input from a laptop through the ceiling-mounted video projector and screen. The Lecture Hall projection screen is 14ft’ wide by 7ft, 10in' high. There are 8 wireless microphones available in the space that can be used for introductions/post screening Q&A/discussion. There are 8 loudspeakers (500W peak) distributed overhead. Seating is split between about 50 chairs at ground level, with space for an additional 56 seats in our raked bleacher seating. These spaces are easily configured for parties, lectures, classes, workshops, exhibitions, and other events. Rentals includes the use of 150 stacking chairs, 30 tables, our ceiling-mounted digital projectors and the ability to record your programming for future use for a small fee. Please note: our storefront cafe/in-house coffee/pastry vendor is open to the public during regular business, Monday through Friday, from 8am - 4pm. They can be bought out for an additional fee.
