History of the space The farm and cabins were originally homesteaded at the turn of the last century. Over the years, a number of notable writers and artists passed through—some stayed a night, others stayed for seasons. Meanwhile, locals came regularly for mail, groceries, or kerosene at the historic San Cristobal Trading Post, still standing today. In honor of our creative visitors, we’ve named many of our cabins after them. Aldous Huxley not only lived and wrote here—he even helped build the outhouse, which still remains on the property. Our cabins reflect the authentic craftsmanship of early settlers. Built from hand-hewn logs and adobe, they have stood much the same for over a century, preserving a rare and rustic sense of time and place. Neighborhood details Taos Goji Retreat & Cabins is nestled at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the peaceful village of San Cristobal, New Mexico. Set on 40 acres of open meadows, goji berry fields, flower beds, and organic vegetable gardens, the property offers a stunning and serene backdrop—perfect for retreats, workshops, and special events. Just a short drive from Taos, Taos Ski Valley, and Red River, the retreat is surrounded by the vast beauty of Carson National Forest, with the Columbine Wilderness Trailhead beginning at the edge of the village. This high desert valley has been home to human inhabitants for hundreds—if not thousands—of years, with archaeological sites scattered throughout the region. San Cristobal Creek flows through the center of the valley, fed by the high waters of Gold Hill, while the wild and scenic Rio Grande corridor lies just to the west. In winter, the land is hushed and snow-covered. In summer, it bursts into green—a rich, growing landscape where everything thrives. Logistics Our farm accommodations form a charming little pueblo clustered around the historic San Cristobal Trading Post. The property includes ten unique cabins, two tipis, and ample space for tent camping and two RVs (no hookups).
