This 1890s Queen Anne Victorian is located in the East High Street Historic District, just a block away from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wescott House. It was a wedding gift for John and Jessie Bushnell from John’s father, Asa Bushnell, who succeeded William McKinley as Governor of Ohio in 1896. The Bushnell’s were key figures in Springfield’s history, co-founding the Warder, Bushnell, and Glessner Company (later known as International Harvester), establishing the First National Bank of Springfield, and commissioning the beautiful Bushnell Building in downtown Springfield, where the Wright Brothers often came to meet with their patent attorney, Harry Toulmin, who had an office there in the early 1900s. Although not designed by an American icon like its neighbor, Bushnell Manor is nonetheless a timeless work of art. The public spaces feel both stately and intimate-- perfect for elegant gatherings or small corporate events. The Reception Hall, Parlor, Morning Room, Library, Dining Room, and Conservatory comprise approximately 1500sf and are interconnected flowing graciously from one space into another through wide pocket doors. In addition, a modern residential kitchen and large butler’s pantry are available to support outside catering.
