Our private Penthouse space, located inside one of the city’s last remaining buildings designed by “the Architect of the Gilded Age,” Richard Morris Hunt, is the perfect balance of exclusive and welcoming. This space is ideal for private parties or dinners, milestone celebrations, and smaller corporate events. The large private kitchen is stocked with all the tools you, or your private chef, need to prepare multi-course meals. Our team can set up seating for up to 36 people at round tables throughout the space, or we can arrange the penthouse’s large living area in a more-party ready fashion with high cocktail tables and comfortable seating. Just off the living room space, an enormous private patio with string lights and comfortable outdoor sofas give you the rare opportunity to host a true indoor/outdoor event in Manhattan. The Penthouse is located inside HI New York City hostel. Often described as “castle-like,” the enormous red brick building sits at 103rd and Amsterdam with easy access to the 1/2/3 and A/B/C subway lines. The hostel is run by Hostelling International USA (HI USA), a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting peace through travel. By booking your event with us, you support our travel scholarships, cultural exchanges, and other educational programming. While entrance to the Penthouse is through the hostel lobby, your guests have exclusive access to the Penthouse space.
