We thrive in hosting live performances, casting calls, film screenings, and fine art installations, as well as corporate meetings, parties, and special events. Our space provides two intimate black box theaters with a bar in between and an upper lobby bar as well. This includes a full working theater and screening room (for multi-use) located in downtown Union Square. SPACE FEATURES 2500 ft² Venue Space Black Box Theater #1 | 108 Seated Black Box Theater #2 | 60 Seated Lobby + Upstairs Bar + Downstairs Bar Fully equipped theatre with stage Projector Courtyard Patio SPACE LAYOUT The theater seating is raised and looks down upon a stage. Stage left has 108 seats and stage right has 60 seats. The stage is very close up and intimate. Theatrical lights, sound system, and movie screen are included. Fine art installations grace the walls presenting an urban speakeasy ambiance. Restrooms -- Two are on the entry level first floor and two are on the second floor. CATERING *Full bar may be arranged prior to the booking date for an additional cost, and will include staff. Full bar typically opens 2 hours prior to any stage presentation and 1 hour afterwards. *Outside catering is allowed with prior approval. CONVENIENCE Centrally located in Union Square, which is the heart of SF. Close to BART, Muni, cable car, and all the major hotels downtown. A garage is close and reasonable. Street parking is free after 6pm. Pay close attention to all signs on the street.
FOOD AND BAR *Beverages: Provided in-house for additional cost. (Full bar + staff) *Food: Outside catering is allowed with prior approval. ADDITIONAL TRASH FEE A cleaning fee is included in the rental. An additional fee may apply for excessive trash removal at Host's discretion. Guests are encouraged to take all trash upon end of booking to avoid this fee. RESTRICTIONS: *No nails, screws, staples, tape or gummed backed materials may be used to attach or affix anything to the furniture, walls, or building. *No glitter or confetti of any kind is allowed on site. *No sparklers, Roman candles, or fire producing gags or effects. *No face painting, hand paints, stains, or other similar activity allowed. INSURANCE: Additional Production Insurance is required and may be obtained through Eventhelper.com. Please list the host as additional insured. DOOR MANAGEMENT: High-traffic Events (ie: large groups or rentals with multiple people cycling in and out during the evening) will require someone from the Guest's team to help manage building access. IMPORTANT: Please consider your setup and teardown needs for the evening and factor time into your booking accordingly. LOAD-IN TO LOAD-OUT Please coordinate with the facility manager for any and all drop offs and pickups THE DAY OF the event. An additional fee per day will apply for any load-in and load-out outside of date of the booking. Thank you.
Guests may cancel their Booking until 7 days before the event start time and will receive a full refund (including all Fees) of their Booking Price. Guests may cancel their Booking between 7 days and 24 hours before the event start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their Booking Price. This space was perfect for my event and the team was fabulous in helping me get ready and clean up, generous with being able to use what they have in stock (glasses, popcorn, etc). and yet letting me bring in my own movie snacks, with excellent communication and thinking of things that even I didn't think of. I will absolutely use this space again! Bravo ... I couldn't be happier.

I hosted a cabaret-style musical show at the larger of the two Shelton Theaters. I’m glad that Matt Shelton suggested I stop in the week before, as I realized what I was working with. I really suggest visiting the space if you have particular sound specifications, as they rely mainly on natural acoustics and the sound system is fairly minimal (understandably as it is an intimate space). I also suggest finding out if there is another production happening concurrently with your event, as to avoid any unfortunate overlap or conflict of use of the space. Thankfully, albeit needing to make some adjustments to my vision of the use of the space, Matt and Jon were exceptionally helpful in accommodating my requests and needs. Jon was very enthusiastic and helpful as my tech operator (lights and sound), and I’m glad I allowed and reserved technical rehearsal time as we were all, for the most part, on the same page for my performance. I can not recommend this venue enough for its location, and more importantly, the hospitality and helpfulness offered by Jon and Matt. They are a last vestige of a genuine, real theater experience in downtown San Francisco.
