This cozy, book-lined Nomadic Press Creative Workspace is located in Fruitvale, Oakland. Take salon shots in the interior or catch the Los Angeles-like movement of Foothill Boulevard just outside. The space is intimate at about 450 square feet and is available for film or photography shoots. In Fruitvale, transportation is a cinch. There are bus lines that run right outside of the workspace, the Fruitvale BART station is a quick 15-minute walk away, and there is plenty of street parking if you are driving. There is a ton of delicious Mexican and El Salvadorian food in the vicinity. There is Wi-Fi, coffee, plenty of furniture to use and rearrange for your shoot, including three wingback chairs, a couch, an oak table, and more, and there are numerous lighting options, including Tiffany-style pendants and reading lamps. The space has been consciously built out to host poetry and music performances, and the uniqueness of the space can be felt as soon as you walk into it.
Pretty basic rules apply: Put everything back where you found it, clean up any messes that were not there when you arrived, drink responsibly if you are going to, no smoking or drug use indoors (including vaporizers), and be courteous and polite to neighbors and hosts. Upstairs is off limits unless it is vacated. Please ask us if you are interested in shooting upstairs, which is a 450-square foot one bedroom apartment. Enjoy yourselves!
J.K. and Rochelle were very helpful and the location is quite nice. In case of filming, be advised, the street outside is busy and may not be good for sound. Otherwise, it's great.
It worked out well. Pretty small and a little warm but fine for our short purposes. I didn't see it myself but attendees described it as "funky" and "quirky" in a good way.
