This is a unique, freeform studio space and shared kitchen tucked away on quiet street in the Greenpoint section of North Brooklyn. Upon entering, you'll be transported to a truly private and magical space, one equipped with many amenities to foster maximum creativity for your own invention. Just past the unassuming exterior lies a sculptural and multi-functional structure made of steel and polycarbonate multi-wall dubbed "The Hex Wall." Therein lies the housing for a sidewalk cafe, grey water reclamation/irrigation system sustaining an indoor farm, and holographic LED light installation. Beneath you is the reclaimed wood flooring from NYC's legendary Roseland Ballroom creating the foundation for a spiritually groovy time with 80 years of New York funk. Being that we believe ambiance is less about decor and more about the vibratory sensations possible in an intimate space, especially audio, we've installed a dual Klipschorn K-Horn system powered by a McIntosh MC-2300 creating lush aural landscapes for recorded music gatherings, film screenings, and other listening affairs. A ceiling mounted vocal PA, 16-channel mixer, microphones, mic stands, drum kit, and a keyboard stand are also available for live music performances and karaoke. Digital projection on our 10' screen is made possible with our BenQ W1070 2000 Lumen XGA DLP 1080P digital projector with direct HDMI access or wifi AirPlay through Apple TV. Up to 50 vintage oak folding chairs for screenings or lectures. Lastly, we operate a certified Shared Kitchen on premises available for research/development and full production of emerging or established food concepts. Kitchen rental assessment is calculated monthly on a sliding scale quantified by usage of utilities, scheduled days, and dry/refrigerator/freezer storage needs. The kitchen also operates as a full catering commissary for dinner parties, tastings, and demos. We have the capacity for 30 seated guests for dining at our modular communal tables complete with a full array of silverware, flatware, and glassware. This is indeed a special space not without limitations, not for everyone nor everything but we'll be damned if we can't make it happen! Drop us a line and let's figure out how to make your event amazing.
Welcome! Below are a few things you should know when using our shared kitchen / event space / cafe. 1. The space is a shared kitchen / event space / cafe! This means that lots of people use the space for lots of different things so please understand and communicate to your associates the importance of leaving the space cleaner than your found it. 2. The building is located in Greenpoint. It is a south-facing, single-story garage attached to a residential complex which puts us just within earshot of sleeping people should your event, off-site or production go late. Noise complaints usually come from people talking loudly outside so to avoid any interruptions, please keep an ear out for excessive volume outside. We'll handle acoustics inside. 3. A Site Manager and/or experienced Production Assistant will be on hand to assist you during your event/production/offsite for things like finding light switches and beaming your music to the jam tube. We pretty much have everything you could imagine on hand but even we get stumped sometimes so come prepared! 4. We really love feedback, good and bad, so don't hold back! Let us have it right to our faces. Our goal is to make our unique space a dynamic, community-focused, freeform studio that is (almost)-all-things-to-(almost)-all-people.
