Underground Studios | Available 7-days a week | Open 24/7 This listing books 1,600 ft² of amazing film studio, video studio, photo studio production space (expandable up to 3,200 ft² with a connected cool VIP/Production area as an add-on). The studio includes an 800 ft² White CYC (Cyclorama/Infinity) wall, PRE-LIT (lights included), 34 feet wide and 22 feet deep & 12-14 feet heigh, flat matt, which can be converted into a green-screen with a green-screen cloth that we have that cab be draped over the wall (10 feet tall by 20 feet wide). We offer lights, a huge 50" monitor & speaker, for free and many amenities to make your experience second to none. Our space is perfect for your next video/film/commercial project or photography shoot. Free parking (12 cars right in front, free street parking a block away), HUGE 10' x 10' garage doors for load-in and load-out, a large separate Green Room in the front (large table, kitchenette, small fridge, coffee machine (bring Keurig K-Cup pods), hot water kettle for tea, etc.), makeup station, bathrooms, couches, tables and chairs. We are able to accommodate large and small productions. SOUND A lot of commercials with sound, interviews and films are shot here. The space is NOT 100% soundproof, meaning that an occasional sound from outside may make it through, but those sounds tend to be for about a second or two and are few and far-between. POWER DETAILS We have 2 x 60 amp BATES Stage 3 Pin connectors. 2 x “Bento” or “gang” boxes each with 6 outlets and 25’ and 50’ bates extension cords. We have additional 20 amp circuits spread throughout, and we have a 220 Volt 30 Amp outlet if you need it as well. ADDITIONAL RENTALS We also have a connected cool VIP area/Production area that can be added on the ADD-ONS if you want a separate space for your talent or you want an additional space to film in. *Pictures of the add-on space are included in the selection of pics for this space. ADDITIONAL SERVICES If you need any additional production team members, such as a camera person, lighting specialists, grip, editor, hair, makeup, styling, assisting, photography, and digital retouching services, we have people we've worked with in the past that we can reach out to for you at their respective (but highly competitive) prices. CONVENIENCE We're actually on the border of Burbank & Glendale (by Disney Animation/Grand Central Station and Dreamworks). Free parking for around 12 cars in our own parking lot, plus lots of free street parking around the corner. REGARDING RENTAL HOURS Please look at the notes at the bottom regarding TOTAL TIME OF RENTAL - the total time of rental is the time you arrive at the studio to the time you have left the studio. This includes setup time and breakdown. If you are not out of the studio by the end time off your booking, we have to charge for that, and it's done in 1/2hr increments at 1.5X your booking rate. This has to be clarified because we have to shift our entire schedule by the amount of time you have gone overtime. So if you think you need 4 hours of shooting time, book 5 hours to allow 30 minutes for setup and 30 minutes for breakdown, for example. OVERTIME If you need to add more time to your shoot during the shoot it is charged at 1.5x the regular rate. To save money try to book at least as many hours as you think you’ll need. Again, OVERTIME IS CHARGED AT 1.5 TIMES (1.5X) THE HOURLY RATE OF YOUR BOOKING, charged in 1/2 hour increments. This includes your breakdown time. Your total time is until you have completely vacated the premises. ADDITIONAL COSTS If we have to repaint the entire floor, it's between $100 - $200 extra (depending on the number of coats needed), which basically covers the cost of paint. This sometimes happens with shoots that take the whole day or where lots of people end up walking all over the floor without the booties. THE USE OF COLORED CONFETTI, if walked on afterwards, transfers the ink to the floor as well, and REQUIRES A $200 REPAINT FEE (You can add it in the Add-Ons), a large amount of any type of glitter/paper/feathers (etc.) is also a $200 repaint fee. This is not added until after your shoot - if it’s determined to be needed at all. If we’re there at the end of your shoot and can determine the damage right then and there, we’ll discuss it with you, to see if you agree. MOVING OUR EXISTING LIGHTS The studio is pre-lit with existing lights in place allowing you to save time and start shooting very quickly. WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO REMOVE & REHANG OUR LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY GET DAMAGED EVERY TIME PEOPLE MOVE THEM. They cost $750-$1,000 per light. The grid has plenty of room to hang additional lights on it so there should be no reason to need to remove our lights. You can move a light to the side if you want, just as long as you slide it back in place when you are done. If you feel that you want to remove our lights and put them back where they were (you do the moving), you will be charged $300 (It's an Add-On item) just to cover the wear and tear on the lights. You must put them back in the exact same location you found them as well. DAMAGE TO THE CURVES You are not supposed to walk on the curves and there are signs indicating that in the studio. If you do walk on the curve you may crack the surface and we will have to repair that crack. The cost to repair each crack is $100 PER CRACK as we need to re-putty the surface, let it dry, sand it down to make it smooth, then repaint it a couple times, this takes a couple hours per crack. Just don't walk on the curves and everything will be fine :-) CARS ON THE STAGE $200 repainting charge per car on the stage: Each car in the studio is an automatic $200 extra repainting charge, per car, even if just one car at a time as driving on and off the stage is what does the damage. You must notify us if you are bringing a car when you book as we may not be able to allow it if there is a booking immediately afterwards as the paint won't have time to dry, so let us know when you book, just in case. Use of a car or cars can be added in the Add-Ons. ADDITIONAL PRODUCTION SPACE USE COST The additional office space can be used for VIPs to hang out in, or for some of your extra crew to use. You are supposed to add the space as an ADD-ON before your shoot, but if you end up using the space during your shoot without reserving it beforehand, you will be charged the extra $50/hr for use of the space at the end of your shoot. SMOKING In California it is illegal to smoke or vape (weed or anything else) in a commercial facility, therefore SMOKING or VAPING IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO. If someone breaks the rules THERE WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC CLEANING CHARGE OF $150. You can add the charge in the Add-Ons if you plan on having anyone smoke or vape on camera. We have people of all ages, including children, shoot at our studio, and when smoking occurs, it's very difficult for us to get the smell out of the studio in a timely fashion. It often takes days for the smell to go away. The door to the outside of the studio is right by the studio, so people can smoke outside very easily. ADDITIONAL CLEANING CHARGES Since the studio is supposed to be returned to us in the condition that it was in when you rented it, any confetti, or other items that we need to clean up, if they require extensive cleanup we will have to charge for that according to the time it takes to clean up at the regular studio rental rate - if it's 15 minutes, you would be charged $25 for example, if it’s 2 hours, that’s $200 in cleaning fees! This is only due to the fact that people are unable to rent the studio after your booking until it is clean enough for them to use it. No sand or dirt or sparkling confetti or other substances are allowed in the studio that are difficult to clean up easily. You will be charged the total cleaning charges to get those difficult items removed and could easily end up in the multiple hundreds of dollars as it can take many hours to clean and repaint. WHITE CYC FLOOR We are known to have the cleanest white cyc floor in the city because we paint it 1-3 times a week. That being said, if there is a shoot before your shoot, it's possible they may scratch the floor slightly, which means that you may not end up with a pristine white floor. We can get most scratches out of the floor with a rag and some special spray, but some may not come out 100%. Most small marks on the floor will not show up when you shoot, but if you require the floor to be spotless, please let us know ahead of time and if there is enough time between your shoot and the shoot before you, we will give you a nice, freshly painted floor. (We need at least 4 hours between shoots to be able to paint the floor and have it dry in time for your shoot.) TIME BETWEEN BOOKINGS If you rent the space immediately after another booking, with no time between it and yours, that will not leave us any time to clean, so you will end up with a space that may not be clean. If you want it to be clean, you will need to rent at least a 1/2 hour after the preceding booking, or an hour if you want to give us more time to do a more thorough cleaning. No Adult Film Productions allowed. IMPORTANT - REGARDING THE TOTAL TIME OF RENTAL The hours you book the studio are the time you arrive at the studio to the time that you leave, including setup and breakdown/cleanup, so you must compute the hours you need with that in mind as we can't rent the studio out to other people if you are still in it :-) Again, STUDIO TIME IS NOT JUST THE TIME YOU ARE SHOOTING, IT'S THE TOTAL TIME YOU ARE IN THE STUDIO. We have to clarify that as people continually think that they can shoot up to the time that the booking ends and then they take another half-hour or hour to break down their equipment and clean up. That is considered overtime and you will be charged for that. Sorry about that! CHANGE OF DATE FEE If you are within within 30 days of the booking but more than 2 weeks (15 days +) away, there is a $200 change of date fee. If you are within 2 weeks (14 days and under) there is a 50% of the total booking fee charge to move the date. This is because under 2 weeks doesn't leave us enough time to re-book the space that your booking is moving from. Other than that, we are totally chill! Thanks so much!
