PERFECT OFF-SITE MEETING SPACE IN HISTORIC MANSION Tucked inside an 1887 stone mansion and conveniently located just two blocks away from McCormick Place convention center in South Loop neighborhood, this renovated space once served as the conservatory for a wealthy Gilded Age family. Anchoring a hidden enclave known as Chicago's Prairie Avenue Historic District, the mansion stands at the corner of a street boasting several historic homes and is immediately adjacent to the Chicago Women's Park and Gardens, a beautiful green space with heirloom plantings, public sculpture, and a central fountain. The Conservatory, measuring 505 square feet, is located on the second floor and overlooks a private courtyard, a distinguishing feature of this landmark historic residence. The Conservatory accommodates 40 people with lecture-style seating, 20 for a board-room set-up, with access to a single-person restroom down the hall in the area formerly occupied by female servants. *Please note, this area is accessed by several flights of stairs and is not handicapped accessible. AMENITIES INCLUDED WITH YOUR BOOKING - Mansion Tour: Every rental of our historic coach house includes an optional 15-minute guided tour of the mansion's first floor, fully furnished with antique items owned by the original residents. Allow your attendees to explore our beautiful Arts and Crafts Style interior. - Use of available 6' banquet, 6' serpentine, 48" round tables, padded chairs, and podium - LCD projector, screen, and AV cart - Bose 180 sound system and microphones - Facility Manager on duty - Drop-offs the day before your event/pick-ups the day after - WiFi internet connection for 1-2 devices (signal and band width cannot accommodate all attendees at once) PARKING A 30-car parking lot, three blocks away from the mansion, is included at no additional charge with bookings scheduled for weekdays after 5:00pm, anytime on Saturday, and Sunday after 2:00pm. It's located on the east side of Wabash Avenue, one-half block south of 18th Street. There are two entrances to the lot, which is located immediately adjacent to, and is owned by, Ada S. McKinley Community Services. There is no address on the lot itself, but you can use 1863 S. Wabash Avenue is you are trying to locate the parking lot using GPS. Please let me know if you require use of the lot during your meeting and I will make arrangements with the owners. Additional paid parking needed for larger groups (not included) can be found at The Lex, a garage located at 2138 S. Indiana Avenue or on the streets nearby the mansion. GETTING HERE Our mansion is easily accessible by foot, cab, or public transit. Take the #3 and #4 buses to the southwest corner of 18th Street and walk two blocks east, or get off at the Cermak Green Line Station and walk east up Cermak to Indiana Avenue then two blocks north to 18th Street. Turn right, heading east toward Prairie Avenue. The mansion is located at the southwest corner of 18th Street and Prairie Avenue. Look for the big oak door with iron strapwork and brass numbers reading "1800".
We require you to take the space for a minimum of three (3) hours. The number of hours rented must include enough time for set-up and clean-up of the event on the day of the rental - which is at least two (2) hours of additional time beyond the actual event hours. Rental of the Conservatory is available seven days a week from 8:00am to 11:00pm. Everyone must be off the premises by the end of your rental window, including all vendors. Regular hourly rate excludes holidays - New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day - but if desired date is a holiday, we can accommodate for an additional flat fee of $500. NOT ALLOWED - Because the mansion is now a museum, and we are bound by certain legalities having to do with our non-profit status, we do not rent our spaces for political-related activities. - The maximum capacity of the space has been based on its square footage, layout, and location. If the room capacity is exceeded, we reserve the right to deny admission to guests. - Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the facility or on the grounds and anyone discovered doing so will be asked to leave the premises. - Weapons (e.g., handguns, knives, etc.) are not permitted anywhere in the facility or grounds. FOOD & DRINK Food and beverages are allowed in the Conservatory. Optional: We can provide a simple beverage service (coffee,tea, and water) for an additional $25 charge. You may use a drop off service from a restaurant or provide your own food. All events with on-site catering and/or alcohol are required to use our exclusive caterer, D'Absolute Catering & Events (www.dabsolute.com). which will provide all your food (appetizers to full-plated meals), staffing (chefs and waiters), and equipment (tables, chairs, glassware, dishes, flatware, and linens). Desserts may be obtained through other vendors.
H there, i wonder if you can help me, i need to hold 2 meetings one on 26th October from 0800-0930am for approx 20 pax and one on the 27th october 08:30-09:30 for approx 7 pax this would need to be in walking distance of the covention center as they are all attending a conference there. can you help at all
