This is a bright and modern second floor space with hardwood floors and charming unobstructed views of the street and neighborhood garden from full-wall windows. Our (private) cafe is 625 square feet, with marble tables and Viennese chairs, seating up to 40 people. The space can be used for corporate events, presentations, lectures, classes or workshops, for social occasions like baby showers, anniversaries, children’s birthday parties, dinner parties and small wedding receptions. Our upright piano (we no longer have the Steinway baby grand) enables the venue to be used as a piano studio, musical rehearsal space, or even a small private concert hall. A full kitchen an elevator flight/2 sets of stairs down. Located 5 minutes walk from the C train ot 10 minutes from 1,2,3 line. Please include set up and clean up time when booking your time slot. Tables and chairs for 40 ppl included. High definition stereo sound through Wireless Bluetooth Portable Speaker with HD sound and bass is included. Refrigeration is free of charge (either in the space in the cooler or in a fridge an elevator flight down). The kitchen is available for cooking at $50 per hour. Projector and screen is available for an additional $60 per event. A coffee urn for 40 ppl with disposable cups is available in-house ($60). Hard liquor, DJs, and outside sound system are not allowed.
Please include set up and clean up time in your booking time slot. We expect guests to clean up and leave the space as they found it as we don't charge a cleaning fee. Decorations are allowed, as long as they don’t damage the property. Catering available, outside catering is welcome. Hard liquor, DJs, and outside sound system are not allowed at the space.
The experience at the Cozy Uptown Cafe was lovely in every way. Olga was communicative and easily reached. The space itself was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our 30 person event, which was an important mentorship event for young women. James was a delightful support, and we had everything we needed. We brought our own snacks and drinks, so food was not necessary. The space was exactly as described. Our guests were very comfortable. Thank you!
The event space was everything we needed. We put on a graduation celebration for our daughter. Our guests said that they felt they were visiting more of a home than a cafe. We also had the catering by the church associated with the venue and the food was amazing. Fr. Yakov was available for anything we needed and made good suggestions for the set up of the room. Thanks to Fr. Yakov and Olga for all there great work.
I needed a special space to host a private memorial gathering for my beloved husband who’d recently passed away. This charming and intimate café was perfect. Host Olga and Father James addressed my every question and need in a timely fashion. Sarah of Peerspace arranged the catering perfectly with one of Manhattan’s best, so the food and beverages were superb. Posies on the UWS provided gorgeous flowers. Everything worked together beautifully for this highly emotional widow. It was such an important day for me – I wanted to honor my husband’s memory in a way that uniquely ‘captured’ him. Several of my guests, many of whom participated with readings, songs, and tributes, told me afterwards it was the most personal memorial they’d ever attended. This one-of-a-kind space and the professionals who helped me all contributed to creating this precious celebration of my husband’s life. I am profoundly grateful to them.
I booked this space for an intimate baby shower for 14 people and it was perfect. We used every corner of the space for activities and station and it never felt crowded....instead the space gave us an intimate environment allowing us to interacts with the mom-to-be and her guests/friends. We had a good time. The host Olga was easy to communicate with and allowed me to stop by the space twice to look at it before event date. Thanks Olga and James for everything!
I booked this space at the very last minute when my original plan for a small birthday gathering fell through. Olga, the space manager, was fabulous in communicating quickly and clearly and in going out of her way to accommodate my last minute needs. The space itself was a perfect, pleasant venue for our celebration and I could not feel more pleased and taken care of in using it. I am happy to give Olga and the space high marks in every regard and to recommend them for anyone's event.
Olga was very helpful since my first inquiry about the place. She accommodated requests and answered all the questions I had; on the day of the shooting everything went smoothly from start to finish. I highly recommend this place!
I was so happy I chose this location. The host were absolutely amazing and helpful and completely understanding of us extending our time significantly. The venue was gorgeous and cozy. I had a dinner party for 20 people and all my guests loved the venue and they were very comfortable in the space. Thank you so much for the helpful hosts I would absolutely book this place again!
