1963 Classic Mid-Century Modern Marvel - Case Study House

Case Study House #26, built in 1963, is one of the most important example of residential Mid Century Modern Architecture in California. Part of the Post World-War II Case Study House program, sponsored by the influential "Arts & Architecture" magazine, it is the only one in the Bay Area. All other remaining homes - about 15 in total - are located in the Los Angeles area, with the Eames House (#8, built 1949) and the Stahl House (#22, built 1960) as the most well-known ones. The home's large open floor plan, deck and outdoor area are well suited for offsites and social events. Living, dining, breakfast rooms and kitchen can accommodate several type of events and setups, with a capacity of 16 seated, 40 standing. The home has 2 bathrooms. All spaces except the master bedroom are available for use. All rooms have direct access to the enormous deck - perfect for hanging out, catering, or simply enjoy the sweeping views of the China Camp State Park. The 1-acre garden can be used for outdoor activities. The house is located in San Rafael, 20 min north of the Golden Gate Bridge. See the floor & site plan.
