Harlem Shake pays homage to the Harlem of old. Designed to feel as if it has been a beloved neighborhood institution for generations, space, which was imagined as a dry goods store that was built in the late 1800s until becoming a diner in the 1940s, reflects the authenticity of years gone by. Partially restored original features: tobacco and water leak-stained tin ceiling and the non-glazed hexagonal tiled floor, juxtaposed with the Formica-striped wainscoting, chrome, ribbed glass and deep green vinyl covered booths typical for a 1940’s-1980’s diner. True retro Harlem style: Above the entrance, the wrap-around black metal signing is surrounded by green and white bulbs, and the building’s original brick corner – hidden for years – has been exposed Even the bathrooms play into the old-school diner feel, with an all-out 1940’s-style renovation complete with vintage seafoam green toilet, sink, vintage foot pedal-operated white enameled hand dryer and the unique JET magazine cover wallpaper showcasing issues from the 1950’s through today, outlining important people and historical moments in African-American history. The second bathroom features the wallpaper featuring Marvel comic hero Luke Cage, who also happens to be the first African-American action comic book hero, vintage pink toilet and sink along with hexagonal tile floor and vintage 4x4 pink tile. more points of interest- light up vintage beer and cigarette signage adorns the wall, 60's payphone, round booths and working original 60's jukebox all complete the ambiance for that hard to replicate vintage feel. As guests enter the restaurant, they are greeted with “Miss Harlem Shake,” Harlem Shake’s customer elected beauty queen, showcased full-body in a life-sized framed lenticular photo. 2013’s Miss Harlem Shake is Harlem resident Shannon Thornton, followed by 2014 winner Ijeoma Eboh and 2015 winner Amanda Mobley. wall of fame We can accommodate your prioduction events for up to 75 people, including, but not limited to: Film/Television/Magazine Shoots Fashion Editorials Chef Food Demo shoots Total of 1800 sqft, full kitchen, bar, two large bathrooms that can be set up as dressing rooms, ample back acess/backstage/ storage for props, connected to a private 1 car parking space, air- conditioned office that can be set up as a make-up room.

Jelena and her team were beyond amazing! In as little as 3 days, they helped bring my boyfriends surprise 30th birthday to life! Neil (I’m sorry if I’m spelling his name wrong) was a gem! Very accommodating and so friendly! The food was amazing! I recommend this place to everyone! You don’t find such great hospitality anymore and Jelena exceeded my expectations. Harlem Shake is a hidden gem! Beautiful retro diner! Continue to do what you guys do! I hope to use your space again in the future! ❤️❤️❤️
Truly a unique and wonderful space in Harlem! We had a lovely, family friendly, afternoon party. Jelena was engaged and hands on throughout our booking and planning process. Had a seamless experience through Peerspace.
Great space including for old people and the handicapped. Many of our atendees commented that they loved Harlem Shake. Just the right size to keep a group of 40 together for mingling with room to move about.
