This space is known locally as 'The Crown Jewel'. When the original owners of this ranch became elderly they gradually sold off lots for custom homes. They saved this property, believing one of their girls would build a home on the property. Therefore the streets are named after their girls Carol, Nina, Elsie Mae and Daisy. All of the girls married men from out of town and moved away. The views are like no other. Red tail hawks soar and hunt in the updraft in front of the property. Deer, raccoons, possum, hummingbirds and owls all pass through the property. Relax at this mountain resort. Hike or ride your mountain bike or road bike right from the front door onto the fire trails or on the street to Big Basin State Park. ON PROPERTY ACTIVITIES Order a massage, read, hit a bucket of golf balls on our driving range, play ping pong, play music, draw, paint, enjoy the sun going down over the San Lorenzo Valley until the stars come out. Sit by a campfire and experience a sky not obscured by city lights. CAPACITY 4+ meeting spaces available plus upper grand room and lower grand room (Band Room). BE VERY KIND TO OUR NEIGHBORS - "Good Graces" of our neighbors. Our house and all other vacation rentals are under extreme pressure in the current reactionary county political environment. Our house is available to you and your guests at the "Good Graces" of our neighbors. If neighbors decide that our house is a public nuisance they will have the county shut us down. Many counties have passed or are considering regulations that severely limit the ability of Vacation Rentals and Bed and Breakfasts to exist. Santa Cruz County County Supervisors are currently debating this issue. They have used the Sonoma County regulations as their template. Sonoma County regulations would force us to close our rentals. Several counties have banned vacation rentals entirely. Please treat the house as if you are home in your own neighborhood. AMPLIFIED MUSIC AND AMPLIFIED VOICES - Outdoor amplified music is only allowed at the Patio Level during daylight hours and must be kept at a level below 60 decibels, or in the house with North (parking side of house) windows and skylight closed. Decibel detectors are available for free on all smart phones. NOISE AND NEIGHBORS - It is very important that guests DO NOT congregate and have conversations in the parking area, which is at the garage level. The parking area is close to our neighbor to the North of the property. Please gather in the main house or the 5,000 sq foot Patio Area on the South “View Side” of the house. Close all skylights and North windows after dark. Amplified music must be in the house with all windows and skylights closed. NEIGHBORHOOD SPEED (15 MPH) You must keep your speed and the speed of all vehicles associated with you, your guests and your stay at 15 MPH or less. Neighbors are very sensitive about cars traveling in the neighborhood. They will call the Sheriff to the property. EARLY CHECK-IN and LATE CHECKOUT - when available, are charged on a per hour basis. Daily lodging charge divided by 20 or 24 hours = hourly rate. Please request early check-in or late checkout in advance of your arrival. Housekeeping will have to have their schedule changed to accommodate early check-in or late checkout. Housekeeping arrives at the 11am checkout time to prepare the house for guest arrival at 3pm the same day. GPS WARNING: Do not always obey that girl in the GPS! SEE: Directions attachment or Driving Advise below. Let us know if your brand of GPS works well or runs into problems. We use the Waze App on our smart phones and it brings guests right to our door. MOVING ITEMS - PLEASE, If you move items (couches, chairs, tables, sports equipment, etc.) It is your responsibility to put it all back in place. It can take several hours for us to to put all items back in place that guests move. We have to charge you for that extra housekeeping staff time. ***NO WEDDINGS - Weddings and Wedding Ceremonies are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN on the property. The County of Santa Cruz requires a permit for any wedding in Santa Cruz County. It can take up to a year to obtain a wedding permit. Our neighbors will turn you in and call the Sheriff to the property. The fines for a wedding ceremony without a permit run in to the thousands of dollars and you will be responsible for the fine, all court costs and charged per hour for witnesses called to court. You are welcome to bring your own balls and clubs or use our clubs. NEIGHBORS RIGHT TO PEACE AND QUIET: In accordance with local law QUIET HOURS starts promptly at 10 P.M. and continue until 9 A.M. Guests shall behave at all times in a civilized manner and shall be good neighbors, respecting the right to peace and quiet of the surrounding property owners. Tenants shall not create noise or disturbances likely to disturb or annoy the surrounding property owners. Outdoor noise from Music, Voices, etc. must be kept to a minimum. Noise and loud conversation shall at all times be kept to a minimum on the North side of the house, which is the area in front of the garage door and in proximity to the closest neighbor. It is a violation of this agreement if the Sheriff or other government authorities are called to the property for any disturbance to neighbors or any violation of the law. Creating a disturbance of the above nature shall be grounds for immediate termination of this agreement. Tenants shall immediately vacate the premises upon a violation of this agreement. Violations of this agreements Right To Peace and Quiet clause shall result in the Tenants forfeiting their entire Security Deposit. SHERIFF and NOISE - If for any reason the Sheriff or authorities are called to the property as a result of your actions. You will at a minimum loose your deposit! You will have to leave the property immediately. SHUTTLE SERVICES - Attached is a PDF list of shuttle services that you can use as transportation to and from Skyhouse. …and it is a exceptionally fun way to begin your stay. PARKING (please carpool) We can park a maximum of 10 to 15 cars on the Skyhouse property. Vehicles cannot be parked on the street. Neighborhood covenants do not allow for street parking and neighbors will have vehicles ticketed. There is carpool parking available, 5 minutes from Skyhouse, at the Boulder Creek Post Office which is behind Liberty Bank, across from the the Fire Department. There is no time limit on street parking in Boulder Creek, other than certain marked area on HWY 9. BACK VEHICLES IN - You will feel so smart, especially after dark! To be able to park a large number of vehicles at Skyhouse, you should ask your guests, upon arrival, to turn around their vehicles and back them in so that they are not jammed up trying to turn vehicles around to get buried vehicles out, once it is crowded. SEPTIC SYSTEM - Skyhouse is on a septic system, which is unlike a municipal sewer system. Anything that goes into a septic commode must be biodegradable. Please, only put the dirtiest of toilet paper in the commodes. Paper slows down the disintegration process. ABSOLUTELY NO feminine hygiene or condoms can be put in a commode. These items should be wrapped in tissue and put in the trash. Please do not throw paper towels in the commode. DO NOT PUT Feminine Hygiene or Condoms in any toilet on the property. They are not biodegradable and will cause severe damage to the septic system. The renter is responsible for septic repair. EXTREME DROUGHT - We are in an extreme drought. Do not run showers or faucets at full blast. A little water can be stretched to go much further than we are accustom. If the faucet is barely opened and turned on and off during use, we still get clean, brush our teeth and shave.
