Please read through for all info regarding catering, outside food and what we can accommodate. Come check out our Private back patio which is furnished with wooden seats and tables. We are located in the heart of the South First Arts (SoFA) District in San Jose, CA. The patio sits against three building walls along with doors, which can be closed for privacy. Tables can be moved or added to needs. Music from within the building plays in the patio, however, this volume can be changed. Food and Catering: The patio is connected to the adjacent building which houses a market filled with numerous tasty eateries and a full bar. You may purchase food and beverages from any of our eateries and bring them out onto the patio. We ask that all parties utilize our eateries and bar for food/drink catering. We can connect with you with any of our eatery operators or the bar so that they can work with you on your catering needs and budget. No outside food/drink is allowed in the market except for cakes and pastries. Music & Entertainment: Music is provided by the Market, but the volume can be turned down if you don't want to utilize that. We can provide a PA and speaker if you require for any speaking engagements. How do I work with the Bar? The Fountainhead Bar can work with you on a ticket system or on a “per head per hour” system. With drink tickets, the bar will give you X number of tickets for your party and keep track of the number of drink tickets collected to be summed-up in your bar tab and paid-out at the end of the party. Usually the bar limits the drink tickets to well drinks and bar menu drinks ranging in price from $7-$13. There are no spending minimums, however you may not bring in any outside food and beverages. Smoking is not allowed inside, on the Patio, or in our front parklet. Non-service animals are not allowed inside the market but are welcomed on the parklet in the front. Personal speakers or DJs are not allowed. No outside food/drink is allowed in the market. Special occasion cakes may be allowed. I can connect with you any of the eatery operators or the bar so that they can work with you on your catering needs and budget. Event staff does NOT provide additional decor such as floral arrangements, table cloths, silverware, table settings, utensils, cups, napkins, or water dispensers.
Guests may cancel their Booking until 7 days before the event start time and will receive a full refund (including all Fees) of their Booking Price. Guests may cancel their Booking between 7 days and 24 hours before the event start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their Booking Price. Booking cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the Event start time are not refundable. Learn more

It was extremely easy booking with Lanny. She was responsive at first but it took her quite some time to answer several questions, which required several follow up messages. She informed me close to the date of the event that she had to adjust the end time of the booking because the space closes at a certain time but did not give me ample time to inform my guests or refund the hour that was reduced from my booking. I had to contact her for a refund. I also requested for a microphone and that was never provided although she said it would be. As for the space, it looked exactly as pictured and is very spacious and quaint. The employee there was not welcoming whatsoever and no one ever introduced themselves as a point person for any assistance. At one point, an employee asked to speak to me about the outside food we brought and was extremely rude as if we were trying to sneak the food by them. They had informed me that there were no outside food allowed. I told them I was not aware of that and it was a simple mistake. Lanny then contacted me with an aggressive message about the food policy in which I explained to her that I reached out to the Peerspace workers to help me set up catering in their food hall but I received no assistance or response so I had to outsource the food. Overall, I wouldn’t book with Lanny again because of the treatment I had received. It completely ruined my night and the days following.

We rented the patio for a baby shower and it was a perfect space! We made the reservations last minute (only days before) because we had to change locations suddenly from our previous location, and Lanny and David were so accommodating!! Thank you for everything!

Great venue. Beautiful space and private. Was able to close the doors and let my 1 year old run around worry free. Area was clearly marked reserved. Guests enjoyed themselves and loved all the delicious food options. Host was responsive and accommodating.

This was my first time booking an event space and had a wonderful experience. From the staff being responsive and accommodating from booking through event, to the actual space itself being so adorable and perfect for the gathering we held, everything went perfectly! I will definitely keep this little gem in mind for the next time I am looking to host an event in the San Jose area!

The venue was in a great location and super cute! We did have a couple of hiccups during the event. 1) The bartenders charged some of our guests for drinks when we already had ticket system in place that we paid for. Our main contact wasn't around to fix the issue. 2) We were promised to have music but they couldn't deliver last minute because there was another event happening inside. Our main contact was great. Super responsive to text messages and any of our questions before the event. Wish they could've been more present and reachable during the bartender issue. But on the positive side, our guests LOVED the ambiance and atmosphere of the location. It was a perfect first event. Thank you!

I had my graduation party at the patio this past weekend, and I absolutely LOVED it. The Host, Lanny was very accommodating and we had been communicating via text and email months in advance. On the day of my party, Lanny was there to make sure everything went smoothly. It was such a great place to have a party and all my guests had a great time. I am looking forward to booking this venue in the future for other events!

My booking at the Patio in downtown SJ was absolutely fantastic. I showed up and found that I had the entire section blocked off with my name on a bunch of papers stating the area was reserved for me. The area was clean and ready for me to enter to begin decorating. People had no problem finding the place and enjoyed the food and (literally) 10 feet away bar. The host was gracious enough to let me change my booking date after I requested it get changed due to people not being able to make the original date. We all had a great night celebrating my girlfriends college graduation and I would absolutely book again! Thank you for the great night!
