Please read through for all info regarding catering, outside food and what we can accommodate. Come check out our Private back patio which is furnished with wooden seats and tables. We are located in the heart of the South First Arts (SoFA) District in San Jose, CA. The patio sits against three building walls along with doors, which can be closed for privacy. Tables can be moved or added to needs. Music from within the building plays in the patio, however, this volume can be changed. Food and Catering: The patio is connected to the adjacent building which houses a market filled with numerous tasty eateries and a full bar. You may purchase food and beverages from any of our eateries and bring them out onto the patio. We ask that all parties utilize our eateries and bar for food/drink catering. We can connect with you with any of our eatery operators or the bar so that they can work with you on your catering needs and budget. No outside food/drink is allowed in the market except for cakes and pastries. Music & Entertainment: Music is provided by the Market, but the volume can be turned down if you don't want to utilize that. We can provide a PA and speaker if you require for any speaking engagements. How do I work with the Bar? The Fountainhead Bar can work with you on a ticket system or on a “per head per hour” system. With drink tickets, the bar will give you X number of tickets for your party and keep track of the number of drink tickets collected to be summed-up in your bar tab and paid-out at the end of the party. Usually the bar limits the drink tickets to well drinks and bar menu drinks ranging in price from $7-$13. There are no spending minimums, however you may not bring in any outside food and beverages. Smoking is not allowed inside, on the Patio, or in our front parklet. Non-service animals are not allowed inside the market but are welcomed on the parklet in the front. Personal speakers or DJs are not allowed. No outside food/drink is allowed in the market. Special occasion cakes may be allowed. I can connect with you any of the eatery operators or the bar so that they can work with you on your catering needs and budget. Event staff does NOT provide additional decor such as floral arrangements, table cloths, silverware, table settings, utensils, cups, napkins, or water dispensers.
Guests may cancel their Booking until 7 days before the event start time and will receive a full refund (including all Fees) of their Booking Price. Guests may cancel their Booking between 7 days and 24 hours before the event start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their Booking Price. Booking cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the Event start time are not refundable. Learn more

I had my graduation party at the patio this past weekend, and I absolutely LOVED it. The Host, Lanny was very accommodating and we had been communicating via text and email months in advance. On the day of my party, Lanny was there to make sure everything went smoothly. It was such a great place to have a party and all my guests had a great time. I am looking forward to booking this venue in the future for other events!

My booking at the Patio in downtown SJ was absolutely fantastic. I showed up and found that I had the entire section blocked off with my name on a bunch of papers stating the area was reserved for me. The area was clean and ready for me to enter to begin decorating. People had no problem finding the place and enjoyed the food and (literally) 10 feet away bar. The host was gracious enough to let me change my booking date after I requested it get changed due to people not being able to make the original date. We all had a great night celebrating my girlfriends college graduation and I would absolutely book again! Thank you for the great night!

I was looking for an outdoor space that also would be accessible to elderly folks and not too triggering for folks with spring allergies so what I thought originally would be in a park I chose this intimate private outdoor patio. Plus I had av needs an a need for tables and chairs I didn’t have to move myself. This place was great— had surfaces of varying levels, and it was super chill on a lovely sat afternoon for my mother’s memorial. It felt pretty private for normally a public patio. We had about 30 adults mostly sitting some standing, a couple in a wheelchair and everyone for pretty comfortably. Lanny was there before our meeting time and helped with rearranging the tables and speaker. Some things to note: The marketplace has really excellent food. My guests Couldn't resist coming up to me to tell me how amazingly good the vegan (yes vegan) egg rolls from VietNOMs were. The fish and shouyu seasoning at Hawaiian poke bowl was really remarkable. As someone who eats a poke bowl at least once a week for other places, the fish was very fresh. Seasoning spot on. That being said the food is really meant for folks who want a meal or snack w drink. You will not find a vendor who is going to do a charcuterie board for you or do wine service for your event. The bottles from Fountainhead are great, but get more glasses than u think u need especially if your guests are too shy to ask for some. I can see this as a great lunch or dinner celebration place!

Wonderful place to host an event. I didn’t need a whole lot of decorations because the ambiance was just right. I did bring some led candles because my event was at night and while there was decent lighting, the candles helped. I offered my guests drink tickets from the bar and appetizers from Vietnoms. Everyone was easy to work with and staff was pretty on hand to pick up empty drink glasses or turn on heat lamps. Would definitely use again.

Unfortunately it was raining outside (January birthdays...) so we didn't end up using the original space, but the host was really accommodating! She reserved a space for us to set up inside and refunded us. Excellent customer service, and our guests still had a great time.
