Multipurpose Community Art Space PLEASE READ THROUGH BEFORE BOOKING!!! Perfectly located in the heart of the East Bay, the bright and fresh creative space offers great off-site meeting/multipurpose use whether corporate or small and intimate. The space is 1,400 sq. ft. Maximum Occupancy: 50 people Amenities include: Free parking in front and back lots Handicap Parking Close to BART Close to the freeway Directly adjacent from Trader Joes, various shops and restaurants Unisex Bathroom Kitchenette Coffee and Tea (glassware provided) Full size fridge Wifi AC/Heat Tables and Chairs Projector White board CRITERIA FOR RENTING OUR SPACE Our existence and main goal is to promote belonging, creativity, and equity within the Eden Area, and we hold these as priorities when deciding on use of the Space. In other words, we not only curate the art within the Space, but desire to curate the narrative expressed from the Space. Because of this, we have laid out some criteria around Space use and rentals. When planning a booking, please keep these things in mind: Though The Space at times operates as a music venue, we do not rent it out for concerts. We do not currently rent The Space out to permanent occupants, and cannot store items before or after events. Recurring events are discussed on a case by case basis, only after having rented the Space in the past. Because we desire to foster an environment of equity and belonging, we do not rent to organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sexual orientation or veteran status. Faith-based organizations are welcome to apply when the event serves all members of the community regardless of religious belief. However, because of our commitment to equity and belonging, we do not rent to organizations/events that require membership in certain religions or advance a particular religious faith. We do give platforms for religious discussions, but in the context of education (learning from each other), not for the purpose of evangelizing or proselytizing. No smoking inside, but there is a bench directly outside where smoking is allowed You're more than welcome to bring outside food (need license to sell alcohol or serve for public events) *See Below. Pets allowed All ages, though not ideal for younger children Cleaning fee is included in the hourly rate, although guests are expected to leave the space in the same condition as they found it in. Guests must respect the space and we ask/appreciate that guests tidy up after themselves. Guest must remove any equipment or rentals you bring in, and you should factor this setup and teardown time in your booking hours. We function as an art gallery and ask that none of the art be taken down or removed before or during event. Guests are responsible for any damages to art, equipment, or The Space. Pre-prepared food only. There is no prep kitchen. Alcohol permitted on a case by case basis. *Certificate of insurance and appropriate permits required prior to the event for any vendors.
Guests may cancel their Booking until 7 days before the event start time and will receive a full refund (including all Fees) of their Booking Price. Guests may cancel their Booking between 7 days and 24 hours before the event start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their Booking Price. Booking cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the Event start time are not refundable. Learn more

We hosted a private event and the space was perfect for it. Tables and chairs were set up upon arrival. Be sure to bring an extension cord if you are in need of any electronics mid-room. The Trader Joe’s parking lot is quite busy so be sure to leave extra time to park.

Everything went great for my daughter’s 1st birthday party. This is a really cute art filled space that is perfect for a small party. The space itself was clean and comes with a convenient, clean bathroom. Cherie was very helpful and and responsive. I love being around all the artwork and appreciate the sense of community that Smalltown Society is all about. It can get a little chaotic trying to drop off any food and big decorations with all of the Trader Joe’s traffic. Other than that it was the perfect venue for our celebration.
