My wife and I are both creatives, myself a photographer, and her a fine artist. We created this space to live and work in, but make it very accessible for others to use. The loft is part of a historic factory building in Red Hook. The space itself has a very relaxing and positive vibe to it. Being a photographer I have worked in many photography studios, that are all nice, but can feel very cold and uninviting. We wanted to make our space functional for your needs, but at the same time feel like you are not in New York City, and more in a warm home like atmosphere. Our loft was built to accommodate a variety of clients. It can be used for photography shoots, small gallery shows, video shoots, podcasts, business meetings, music videos, tv shows, yoga, and fine art classes. For photography or video shoots, in house lighting can be provided for an additional fee ( please message for rates ). Our in house lighting includes ( 1000 watt pack with two heads, 2 x 400 watt mono lights, 600 watt hot light, 78" Ocotobank, 2 x 72" Parabolic Umbrellas, Medium and Small softbox, 2 Black out Screens, 2 c-stands, and 6 stands. Background seamless paper is available in studio to use ( colors are random, so please message for what colors are available ). If you need a certain color, we can provide it for you ( purchase fees will be added onto your rental ). We have a large floor length rolling mirror, tables for hair and makeup, clothing rack, movable changing area, and extension cords for your use. Please no bookings that include 20 people or over. This is a live and work loft, so we do have neighbors, so keeping the crew down to 12 people would be great. Daytime and weekend bookings will work the best. If the client specifically needs to shoot at a later time, please message the time and day, and we can try to work it out. Only the downstairs space can be used. You cannot use the upstairs or go up the stairs under any circumstances. ( the loft is actually 2000 sqft, not 1600 sqft, can't seem to change it on Peerspace )
Smoking is not allowed inside the loft. There is an outside common area a few feet away from the door of the loft that can be used for smoking and hang out. Music is allowed in the loft, but please keep the music at a respectable volume Outside food is ok, but be respectful of the loft and please don't spill drinks or food on the floor or furniture. Alcohol is ok, but please don't use the space as a party hall.
It was the 11th hour, the night before my lookbook shoot was scheduled, and Gary and Amy saved the day by accepting my last minute booking request. From the very first, they were so warm and inviting, and I was immediately blown away by their space. There are so many beautiful pieces (an antique kimono on the wall, a carved wooden screen, taxidermies, Japanese prints, plants everywhere) and angles to shoot with that we just wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. I had a fantastic experience with them. They are an inspiring couple, each with their own beautiful work, and that creativity in the air lent something magical to the whole shoot. Thank you to you both!
