Abandon is ten acres of open desert set against the sublime backdrop of the Sheephole and Cleghorn Mountains located towards the east end of Wonder Valley. It contains a unique set of weathered recreational cabins, dubbed the His (green) and Hers (pink) Cabins. The cabins silhouette their historic architectural character and evoke a gender duality, rendered by the passage of time. The acreage has established native vegetation and is crossed by a desert wash and is surrounded by several acres of BLM land, providing significant unobstructed landscape vistas. Users have use of the ten acres and the exterior of the cabins. The property has power (15 amps at each cabin, standard three-prong grounded outlet) and non-potable water at the old pump tower on site. There is generally decent cell coverage on site. Contact host for use of facilities (bathroom and changing area) across road at The Bird Line.
Be aware, and stay safe. Not only is this an old homestead site, it is raw desert. There are all kinds of hazards, glass, thorns, wildlife - you name it. Look after yourself. Keep vehicles on established trails. If walking or setting up shoots off trails, please use care not to damage plants. Leave no trace. Take away with you everything you bring. Cabin interiors are currently being refinished. Check with host prior to using inside of cabins.
Michael was super gracious and was able to help me book this at the last minute. The abandoned cabins are perfect for those looking to embody the true grit that Wonder Valley has to offer as well as all the space you could ever need. Shot at the property in the late afternoon around sunset and got amazing colors and great sunset shots. 100% recomend and will book again.
