Langford Warren. The architect of the chapel was a Swedenborgian and was also the Dean of Harvard’s School of Architecture. The church was one of the country’s first to welcome the marriages of couples of different races. In the 1970s the church opened its doors to marriages of couples with different faiths. Then, in the 2000s, it was one of the first churches to welcome couples in same-sex marriages, before this was legalized by the Supreme Court.
