The sanctuary is a place where you can feel at peace and yet it is an awesome venue for media production. The jaw-dropping ambiance will surely make any occasion a memorable one. The building features a beautiful carved stone exterior on its world-class architecture while it also contains stained glass windows produced by top studios Lamb & Tiffany to illustrate Bible stories from Genesis all the way up until Revelation in their aesthetically pleasing Gothic style which adds beauty and richness into this space. The stained glass windows are the most notable feature of The Church of Holy City. It lets in plenty of natural light. Great care was given to ensure that each window reflected a theme related to its location inside or outside the church building. The pews and aisle make a grand entrance while it boasts high stone walls and embellished wood beams, creating an incredibly natural acoustic setting. Pendant lights hang overhead for nighttime events. Langford Warren and architect Paul J. Pelz supervising it's construction. The builder was Spier & Co., and Lane & Meinati oversaw stonework - ensuring that this monument would be preserved for generations to come. H. Langford Warren designed this Gothic English Sanctuary. The architect of the chapel was a Swedenborgian and Dean of Harvard's School of Architecture. The church was one of the first in the country to welcome marriages between couples from different ethnicities. It was in the 1970s that the church started accepting marriages between couples of different faiths. In the early 2000s, the church was one of the first to allow same-sex marriages before this was legalized by the Supreme Court.

We rented this beautiful historic space to use the piano and organ while staying in DC. Sholanda, the staff member who worked with us, was incredibly gracious and accommodating. She was very flexible with scheduling, and was able to share some of the building’s history, current use, and future with us. This place is a gem.
