Its original use is unknown, and the brick structure was leveled in the 1906 earthquake. Rebuilt as a 3-story wood-frame building after the quake, the property became the Hotel Rondel, named after the alleyway to the east. It operated as a place of lodging and brothel until The Great Depression, when it was shuttered. When the economy recovered the property became a simple hotel and stayed that way until it was sold and renamed the Sincere Hotel. In 1976 there was a fire that gutted the top two floors of the hotel, and there are still bits of char at the top of these steps left in place for history. Rather than rebuild the two burned floors the owner removed them and converted the remaining structure to a commercial space, becoming a bar. In May of 2014 the interior was demolished except that every effort was made to preserve any architectural history, such as the wooden back bar, the lit arch, the box-beam ceiling, the windows, the infinity stairs and all the moldings. Opened as Bond on Thanksgiving Eve in 2014, the name is a reference to the relationships that connect people and the opportunity to make new ones. Welcome to Bond! We look forward to getting to know you and adding to the great history of the Hotel Rondel.

Chris F. booked a happy hour for 75 people
Bond Bar wound up being the perfect space for hosting a party. We took the back area, got some music going, and the venue couldn't have been better. Also, Andrea was a pleasure to work with and did everything she could to ensure our event went as best as possible. We hope to come back soon and can't thank the staff enough for helping us throw a great event!

Andrea was incredibly responsive and helpful. The space is gorgeous - my group had the right amount of room to lounge and drink cocktails. The bartender was also very welcoming to everyone.
Anthony L. booked a 30th birthday party for 65 people
Andrea was an amazing host. She was available daily prior to the event and always made herself available throughout the night of the party. I would absolutely recommend renting this space out. Might have to do it again myself!
Jenn R. booked an engagement party for 45 people
We had a GREAT time at our event. Andrea was so great to work with throughout the entire process! I would definitely recommend anyone to host their event here. Also, the drinks are amazing! So stop in even if you're just wandering the Mission District, I know I will!

Francesca D. booked a birthday party for 50 people
Overall, this was a great space. It's in a central location that's accessible by BART, which was a plus since we had guests coming from all over the Bay Area. There's tons of seating as well, which is a huge plus. There are only two things that we were unhappy with. The listing said we would have access to the aux jack for music, but when we asked if we can use it we weren't allowed to. Also, we rented the entire space but since our group showed up at different times, the owner let general guests into the space we rented out. I understand that it's awkward to leave the space empty as general guests of the bar arrive, but it seemed unfair that we spent a good amount of money on the space only for it to be infiltrated by other people. If this is the case, I think the listing should state that the whole party should be present at the start of the event.
