About the Space

Formerly "Big Orange Studios", this space was home to a successful recording studio for over a decade. During that time it was utilized for events during SXSW by various big name companies, the most recent being "Vans Rubber Tracks". Recently renovated it is now an exclusive hideaway featuring ultra-lounge seating in an intimate setting. Mulit-purpose art house w/stage, available for live music, exhibits, film screenings, tastings, cabaret/burlesque performances and private events. The studio space and courtyard were utilized in late 2019 for a hand full of scenes in the soon to be released Austin indie film "The Roommate". The courtyard and main room were also used as a "homebase" when the crew was shooting nearby. There is optional ultra-lounge seating available for 30-35 people. Right in the heart of downtown East Austin, the 850sqft main room with optional private bar and 5000sqft courtyard w/stage can provide for cornucopia of events, parties and more... Parking description

There is parking on site for a few vehicles, but unless specified they would not be available. The 5,000sqft courtyard could hold a good # of vehicles if looking for safe gated parking (band equipment, RV, tour bus etc.) During your rental this space would be fully at your disposal for parking or otherwise. Out on the street there is metered parking. There is usually parking available, unless there is a show at Scoot Inn across the way. Free on Sundays. There is also paid (expensive) parking in gravel lot next to Scoot Inn as well.

Natural light outside in the courtyard. No windows in the building, only the entrance door to the outside could be considered a natural light source.

Space is soundproof

Ambient noise description

Our A/C makes noise. If a concert is happening at Scoot Inn across the street, you might run into some sound bleed inside, and definitely outside in the courtyard. If there is no show at the Scoot Inn it is a very quiet street with ample parking.

Equipment loading description

There is a large gate that can be opened to load in. Plenty of space in the courtyard for a handful of vehicles. Parking spaces in front of the space may be used, but will need to make arrangements prior to the rental.

There is a side room or "green room" to the right as you come to the entrance of the building that could be used for makeup and wardrobe.

All rooms are available for shooting

Electrical system description

The space was a recording studio for 14 years before we took it over. There are plenty of outlets and 3 breaker boxes within the main room.

General Rules

No smoking inside the building, but allowed in courtyard outside Any outside food or drinks are welcome Pets-only in courtyard area No loud music after 10:30pm All furniture must be returned to holding area after use.

Chairs and tables may be moved in or out of the space. There is a covered area on the outdoor stage where they may be stored if not used. All other decor must stay intact unless prior permission is given.

Health and Safety Measures

All surfaces are wiped down with sanitizing spray before and after each booking. We supply hand sanitizer for guests to use.

Enhanced cleaning measures:

High touch surfaces and shared amenities have been disinfected

All hosts are required to do the following prior to each booking:

Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.
Remove garbage and add new lining to cans.
