This is an impressive and unique space that celebrates NYC culture with a very small bookstore operation and has art on the walls. All of the books are on NYC culture and NYC history and the art or photography is primarily related to NYC culture. The books take up less than 10 percent of the space on the main floor and the lower level is always empty, so the books take up less than 5 percent of the total space. We have found that the NYC art and books always attract more people to your event, if you are open to the public. We essentially become a small vendor within your space and you set the tone. If NYC culture does not fit in with your theme, this is not the space for you. If it does, this is an amazing affordable opportunity. Often our unobtrusive staff person will sit out front under a tree and sell artsy t-shirts and only attend to the books on request. For meetings, workshops, film shoots, auditions, etc, we take off and leave you to your space. At a slightly higher rate we can put the books on the eight bookshelves library style and we leave the space to you alone. We have excellent dedicated Wi-Fi. There are blinds for privacy. One enters this unique space on the ground floor with high ceilings and continues into a downstairs space and a backyard patio! The entire space has views of a huge beautiful backyard garden. This stand alone building has an airy and safe feel with abundant natural light on both floors. Perfect for your next pop up shop, launch party, gallery opening, meeting, workshop, classroom, media needs or a small event or mixer that respects any current covid restrictions and is not noisy to our neighbors. No music after 10pm on either floor. The space is located on 3rd Street near 1st Avenue in the thriving hip area where the East Village, Lower East Side and Noho converge and two blocks from a subway station. The lower level makes a perfect exclusive area/breakout/meeting room/dressing room/non-cooking kitchen or room for more vendors. Yes, there is a bathroom! Because many of our bookcases are located above a staircase, they hardly take up any floor space. Most renters prefer to keep them displayed with a bookstore look, as it might add to their branding to be connected to all this authentic NYC culture. There is a $150 charge for us to close the bookstore and put the books library style in the eight bookshelves. There are usually 10-15 pieces of art on the walls by NYC raised artists. We prefer to leave the beautiful art up and it usually adds to any event, though under some cases we can help you work around the art, like if you need to put a banner up, etc and in rare instances, with proper planning ahead we can discuss removing a piece of art temporarily to satisfy any wall needs you may have. We have three six foot folding tables, two 3' x 3' square tables and two six foot table style displays, eight basic clothing racks and 14 chairs for your use at no additional charge. We also offer free use of two double sided "sandwich board" style signs that hold a total of four 2' wide x 3' tall posters for signage in front of the store and on the corner. For retail we suggest opening after 12 Noon in this neighborhood and going as late as 9pm. There is a six hour minimum for any bookings on a Saturday or Sunday. Please read the "Host Rules" section, before inquiring about the space. Let's make this happen in a way that makes sense for you. A visit to the space can be arranged most days after 3:00pm and some days after 12 Noon.

Guests may cancel their Booking until 7 days before the event start time and will receive a full refund (including all Fees) of their Booking Price. Guests may cancel their Booking between 7 days and 24 hours before the event start time and receive a 50% refund (excluding Fees) of their Booking Price. We did a tie dying birthday party for our 7 year old daughter in the back garden area of Joe's space. It was a great success. We arrived about 15 minutes early and Joe let us in to set up immediately. The space was cleaned and ready to go so we only needed to set up tables and chairs and our supplies. The kids and parents had an excellent time. Joe texted me so I had in number in case we needed anything (we didn't) and came back when I texted him that we were cleaned up and ready to leave. A real gentleman, very pleasant.
