We have a small parking lot directly outside of our studio space. It is located on Abbottsford Avenue before you get to Wissahickon. The easiest way to find the studio is to search MAKESHIFT Studios in GOOGLE MAPS or GOOGLE and use those directions. You can also contact the host for a current location. The main space does not have windows to allow manipulation of light on set, it does have natural light spilling in during the day. The 3 room sets have large windows with natural light.

Our building is a shared space with multiple businesses operating out of it, this is addition to a fairly busy street means that there is a high and unpredictable chance of ambient noise. This should only really matter if you are recording sensitive live audio and is never a problem for music videos or photoshoots. On the flip side, noise from our space can interrupt our neighbors especially around the times 9:00am-7:00pm. We may ask you turn down your volume during these hour specifically as it is important we maintain good relationships with the businesses around us.

Ground Floor

There is a ramp to our main entrance and a loading dock on the rear entrance. The doors on both sides are 7ft by 3ft. The main entrance has a ramp.

Any that are not used for shooting can be used for talent and crew. Mainly the back room that has chairs and a mirror.

2 rooms are used by another organization and you cannot use them, most likely they will be locked. 1 room is a recording studio which you cannot use with express consent from our engineer.

There are 6 outlets in the main space and 4-5 in each room set. We have plenty of extension cords and power strips as well the circuit breaker is in the common hall.

RULES Thanks for booking please read below for information about your booking and our space rules! MAKESHIFT RULES A few rules we have for all guests is to respect our space and our community so MAKESHIFT can continue to stay around as a resource for the city! - No smoking, we don’t own the space and smoking is restricted inside the building always and limited outside specifically between the hours of 9am-9pm. - During 9-5 on weekdays we may ask you to keep the music down in the space due to it being a shared building. - Our location is slightly hard to find, please refer to our parking instructions and arrival directions to make sure you get in smoothly. - You booked for the hours you booked for starting late does cut into your time and ending early doesn’t mean a discount, the cost is the hour booked unless directly communicated with us - Please leave the space as clean as you found it after bookings, we recommend taking the last 10-15 minutes of your booking to break down and clean up after yourself. - Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Most set pieces/furniture can be moved/removed, contact us about specific inquiries. A staff member will be on set to help you properly and safely move any set pieces, props, backdrops etc.
