Peaceful Dutch Colonial in the Suburbs of NYC

Originally built in 1929, Twin Stacks was home to a family of artists for over 60 years. As time ran its course, the house and its contents prevailed— a time capsule left untouched since the 80s. Now (after a few cosmetic adjustments) the house is home to a new generation of artists, living among the relics left behind from Twin Stacks' previous life. The home is nestled on a half-acre lot among towering trees, shrubs, and greenery on all sides. These provide lots of privacy from nearby neighbors, as well as a safe haven for birds, owls, rabbits, chipmunks, and the occasional raccoon. Facing South, the front of the house gets beautiful direct sunlight for the entire day, with light pouring in through the extremely charming casement windows from sun-up to sundown. In the warmer months, the side porch is lovely for relaxing and decompressing. The bird feeder, porch swing, bistro lights, and fire pit provide perfect ambiance— you may not even end up going inside. The sprawling sloped backyard has a pear tree and one of the largest rhododendrons you have ever seen— and in the summer, the entire yard turns into a wild strawberry patch. Inside the house, you have access to the living room, kitchen, art studio, library, guest bedroom, downstairs bathroom, and mudroom. The main bedroom and garage are usually off-limits, but special accommodations can be made ahead of time. The largest room in the house is the art studio. It has a massive drafting table and a smaller workbench, and plenty of electrical plugs for your team to plug into. This room generally makes a good home-base for tech during photo and video shoots OR just general working space for offsite work sessions. Comfortably, 5-7 people could be seated working in this room with plenty more standing room. The living room is lush and airy with plenty of leafy greens, off-white walls, and a pale blue ceiling. This is the heart of the home, front and center, and is also one of the brightest rooms in the house. Between the vintage latticed speakers, the funky faux-leather couch, the barber chair, and the record collection full of funk, soul, and R&B— this room's vibes are immaculate. 5-6 people can hang out in this room, listening to music, projecting a movie, or just enjoying the sunshine. The coffee tables double as extra stools in case seating gets tight. Step into the kitchen and live out your wholesome country cottage cooking dreams. A gas range dating back to the late 20s accented by the glass front cabinets and vintage produce scale— you'll want to start making pies like your grandma used to make. A small refrigerator is available if you need it, but there isn't much extra space so consider bringing a cooler if you plan on bringing lots of extra food. A countertop oven is available for oven-related needs, fits anything up to a 9"x13 baking dish or two 9x13 sheet pans. Also available: microwave, blender, waffle iron, Dansk Kobenstyle pots, nonstick pans, cast iron pan, wood and silicone utensils, mixing bowls, sheet pans, cutlery, tableware, glasses, and silverware. The library is the coziest room in the house with dozens upon dozens of books, wonderful lighting, plenty of artwork, and the most comfortable daybed to soak up the sun from the morning to late afternoon. If the rest of the house is getting too noisy, sneak away upstairs, find a nice book to cozy up with, and tune out the madness. The guest bedroom is bright and airy, with a full-size bed, dresser, and side table. Generally, this room is only available for photoshoots and video shoots requiring a set with a bedroom, however, it can also be rented for extra storage for the day of the event. The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, full-length mirror, beautiful vintage stage lights, and a small desk. This room is rarely rented out, and would only be available for photoshoots or video shoots requiring a set with a bedroom, or some other extenuating circumstances. The downstairs bathroom and mudroom are also available for your use— both having beautiful direct natural light. Only an hour from NYC by car or train, and a 15-minute walk from the Greenwich train station. The gravel driveway has space available for approx. 5 cars.
