About the Space
Featured on Cabin Porn August, 2022. (The Swamp Haus) Quintessential cabin in the woods on a private lake (35 acres) in the middle of 12 acres of forest. Architectural light filled cabin featuring privacy, land, and a floating cabin on lake. Cabin is two hours from NYC in Dutchess County. Classic car available for photo shoots, as well as vintage kayaks and cedar strip canoe. Please inquire for rates. The main cabin was built in the 70s with additions and modern design elements completed in 2021. The original structure was designed as a secondary residence for James Michaels while he was editor and chief at Forbes Magazine. Please specify what areas you would like to shoot prior to your reservation so that we can prep the space accordingly with your details in mind. *Please note that for production and events the lofted bedroom in the main cabin is NOT included, it may be reserved for an additional rate. Customize this space as your own, your creativity is our shared dream! We ask that you remove your shoes and be mindful if using the wood stove and not to use until receiving tutorial. The Swamp Haus is a unique retreat and an easy train ride from NYC or 2hr drive. Explore the grounds and enjoy fresh organic chicken eggs from our chickens! 10 minutes to downtown Rhinebeck. 15 minutes to Amtrak station in Rhinecliff, 35 mins to Metro North station in Wassaic or 40 minutes to Poughkeepsie station. **PLEASE READ** Production insurance required. Finally, we require all bookings to put down a Security Deposit (3-5x hourly fee per day). This Security Deposit is held separately via ACH or Venmo and will be returned within 3-7 business days assuming no damages occurred during your shoot. For large productions/ commercial shoots a custom Security Deposit is required. Thank you.

Enhanced Health and Safety Measures
- The space is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with guidelines from local health authorities
- High touch surfaces and shared amenities have been disinfected
- Soft, porous materials have been properly cleaned or removed
- A licensed professional cleaner is hired between bookings
- Bookings are spaced apart to allow for enhanced cleaning
- Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
- Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
- Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.
- Remove garbage and add new lining to cans.
- Disinfecting wipes or spray and paper towels

The space is beautiful for doing photo shoots... so versatile, with gorgeous natural textures. It is a classy spot and the outdoors provides an endless array of natural beauty. I am thrilled with the shots we were able to get on our shoot!

Conveniently located near NYC, we were able to get the shots we needed in no time! Gina accommodated our large crew with no problems and was super helpful! The crew even took a dip in the lake after we wrapped. I could not ask for a better location!

Our crew used this stylish cabin as a backdrop for a branded piece. The property is beyond photogenic! It simply made the entire commercial come together. Private secluded forest and lake. There is a swampy meadow on the property that plays as the American South! Gina was helpful and a pleasure to work with!
