About the Space

The Prosser House is located near downtown Indianapolis in Windsor Park, one of the city's original streetcar suburbs. Built in 1886, it's listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The house is known for its elaborate plaster ceilings and ornamentation created by Englishman William Prosser, who designed much of the plaster ornamentation for the Indiana State House and luxury Victorian hotels of the day. The floorplan includes a large living room, adjacent parlor or gallery, and a master bedroom with fireplace and chandelier.

Parking description

Any number of cars can park in the available spaces on Arsenal Street. If there are no spaces available, there is a large parking lot adjacent to 11th Street nearby and visible from the house.

Lighting description

The windows are tall single pane glass. There are east and west facing windows that allow for lots of beautiful, diffuse natural light at certain times of the day. The house does not currently have blackout curtains, but will soon. Mid-afternoon are the brightest times of the day.

Space is not soundproof

Ambient noise description

10th Street is a busy thoroughfare to the city proper. At certain times during the day, there can be some outside noise from traffic.

Equipment loading description

Aside from the second story guest room, there are no flights of stairs to access the ground floor. However, there are are one to two minor steps to reach the porch and door threshold. Any heavy gear requiring rolling cars would necessitate a ramp.

Any room can be used as a separate staging room.

The second floor room opposite the guest room.

Electrical system description

The electrical box is in the basement. Each room has a number of outlets for power.

-No smoking inside the property. -No illegal activities. -No guests on premises who are not directly involved with the production or event. -Turn off lights when away. -Please confirm with owner before moving any artwork or large furniture pieces. -Because I live in the space, I will need at least 72 hours lead time to consider a booking request. I am unable to accommodate same-day or next-day bookings. Thank you for understanding.

Enhanced Health and Safety Measures

The house is cleaned according to the guidance set forth by the CDC, Peerspace, and other hosting platforms such as AirBnB. The space is fully cleaned, ventilated and sanitized before every guest.

Enhanced cleaning measures:

The space is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with guidelines from local health authorities
High touch surfaces and shared amenities have been disinfected
Bookings are spaced apart to allow for enhanced cleaning

All hosts are required to do the following prior to each booking:

Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean the space.
Supply a hand washing station with soap, warm water, and paper towels or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Clean common areas allowing guest access including bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances.
Collect and clean dishes, silverware, and other provided host amenities, if applicable.
Remove garbage and add new lining to cans.

I was given clear and detailed instructions on the space. It was easy to get in and it was beautifully decorated! The lighting in the space was lovely for our photo shoot, a great mix of natural light and stylish lamps. Everything was clean, a very comfortable space to be in. The owner was available for communication and responded very quickly to questions!
