The House of Intellect is a place to escape reality and contemplate your place in the universe. Where wonder meets magic, explore a space that inspires creation and stimulates outer and inner reflection. Located in the heart of the protected land of Monument Manor on 2.5 acres, there’s no better place to relax, recharge and re-center than in the darkest area of Joshua Tree, when the night sky really does come alive making it abundantly clear how small we truly are. The space Featuring an open floor plan to encourage an open mind, this newly remodeled home is stylish, clean, and bright with a design that’s best described as a blend of Florence and Miami. It’s the quintessential desert getaway, blurring the lines between indoors and out with incredible floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that provide a portal to the magnificent surroundings by day and reflect the surrounding beauty camouflaging the house’s very existence at night. ★ 2 Minutes away from Joshua Tree Park ★ Large Pool ★ 4-person Hot Tub ★ Outdoor Shower ★ Propane BBQ ★ Fire Pit ★ Projector with Apple TV ★ Old-Fashioned Organ Designed like a duplex, each side of the house is symmetrical in layout creating two complimentary suites (a primary suite and a guest suite) while providing plenty of space for 2 couples or the whole family. SLEEPING: The primary suite features a King sized bed, en-suite full bathroom with a soaking tub, projector, Apple TV, wardrobe, and vintage organ. The guest suite includes an open kitchenette, breakfast nook, living space with a King sized bed, and a second full bathroom with a rain shower. OUTDOORS: Hike the spectacular rock sculpture more than 85 million years in the making and explore the sweeping desert views from different vantage points. Share a moment of gratitude for those who’ve "climbed the highest mountain (and run through the fields) - only to be with you.” Rinse off at the one-of-a-kind boulder shower with hot water temperature control and take a cool dip in our large 15’x30’ pool. Later, relax your sore muscles in the hot tub while the sun sets behind the many mountain ranges beyond the horizon. Connect with your inner philosopher and count the stars (you can try) at night while gathered around the fire pit as the moonlight softly illuminates the rock sculptures behind you like the perfect backdrop in a sci-fi film. FEATURES: The open kitchenette packs a punch of luxury convenience into a small, sleek space along with thoughtful storage for a clean, modern look. A gas cooktop stove, oven, Keurig, toaster oven, stainless steel fridge, BBQ just steps outside of the kitchen door and a sleek pony wall means you’re never far from the action no matter if you’re preparing for a family dinner or a romantic morning with breakfast in bed. Stimulate your right brain by composing a tune or playing an old disco favorite on the organ, or exercise your left brain while analyzing an out-of-this-world movie on our projector. Find what you’re looking for at the House of Intellect. After all, the only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Other things to note PROTECTION: Our bookings are protected by SUPERHOG, our trust and safety partner. We need our guests to verify themselves after the booking is confirmed, which only takes less than a minute and is required prior to arrival. You will be contacted directly by SUPERHOG via text with a url link to start your verification. Once this is complete, we will send your check-in instructions. FAMILY: We are family friendly! But no infants are allowed. Children 2 years old and above must be included as part of the total guest count. Please note that the house is NOT childproof (ie no outlet protectors, no gate to pool, etc). Please see our House Rules for more information. NO PETS: We are NOT able to host any pets unfortunately. Please inquire about our other properties if you wish to bring a pet. RESPECT: PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OUR NEIGHBORS! We are in a quiet, peaceful area of Joshua Tree. There are strict county ordinances regarding excessive noise and light pollution. Please respect our neighbors by following the county's Good Neighbor Policy and refrain from any loud outdoor noise or disturbances by 10pm. Failure to respect quiet hours or after an initial warning may result in cancellation of your reservation without refund. NO OUTDOOR MUSIC: Sound travels far in the desert. Take a moment to listen to how much you can hear! Guests must refrain from any outdoor music playing from amplifiers or bluetooth speakers at ANY time of day or other disruptions that may cause a disturbance to the community even outside of quiet hours. You may play music while in the house with the doors closed, but please only play music from your phone or computer at a low volume while outside. Thank you for being a good neighbor! HOT TUB: Our 4-person hot tub is set to 104 degrees. OUTDOOR POOL & SHOWER: Our outdoor above-ground pool is filled and maintained for your enjoyment all year long. It is not heated, but there is an outdoor shower with water temperature controls right next to it making it the perfect spot for hot showers and cool dips. The pool is 4.5 feet deep and 15ft x 30ft wide. Please note there is a ladder and NO pool gate. We do our best to maintain the pool after every stay, but many small insects may try to take a drink and cool off in the desert heat. So do not be alarmed if you find bits of nature with you in the pool. AC/HEATING: We have a split AC/heater unit in each suite. WIFI: We have the fastest wifi in the area (15mbps), but we do not guarantee these speeds at all hours of the day. We are in a remote area of Joshua Tree so speed depends on the neighborhood bandwidth, weather, and many other factors outside of our control. PHOTOSHOOTS & VIDEOS: If you’re interested in doing a photoshoot or shooting a video for commercial use, please let us know what it is for. You must get approval beforehand! If approved, we have an additional fee for licensing and usage. WILDLIFE: You’re surely guaranteed to encounter wildlife on your stay including families of Quail, coyotes, rabbits, rare Albino lizards, insects, snakes, and the endangered kangaroo mice. NO SMOKING: No smoking or burning candles. This is a non-smoking home. Any and all smoking should be kept outdoors and at least 15 feet away from any open exterior doors. There will be a $250 charge for anyone not honoring this guideline. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE CIGARETTE BUTTS in the property. CLEANING: Health & safety is our number one priority. Our in-house cleaning team is trained on CDC and WHO protocols. We take extra measures to ensure the home is sanitized and safe before every arrival. By making a reservation, you are entering into an agreement to adhere to all of the House Rules below, which takes effect at time and date of check-in and ends at check-out. This House Rules agreement is NOT a lease and conveys no rights in real property at any time. Your use is limited to the House Rules defined herein. 1. NO EXTRA GUESTS. You may not exceed the number of guests than what's on the reservation at any time without prior approval. No additional guests are allowed to ENTER the property at any time. You must get approval if you wish to have any visitors that are not on the reservation. Any visitors must be approved prior to arrival. Visitors must leave by 10pm due to county ordinance. 2. NO EARLY CHECK-IN OR LATE CHECK-OUT. Check-in is 4pm to 9pm. Check-out is by 11am. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to accommodate any early check-in or late check-out requests due to the enhanced cleaning regimen required to properly clean and sanitize the home according to CDC protocols for your health and safety. 3. ABSOLUTELY NO PETS. No exceptions. This is strictly monitored at check-in. Reservation will be cancelled without refund if guests do not adhere this rule. 4. NO SMOKING OR BURNING CANDLES. This is a non-smoking home. Any and all smoking should be kept outdoors at least 15 feet away from any open exterior doors. There will be a $250 charge for anyone not honoring this guideline. 5. Please be respectful of our neighbors! Follow the county’s Good Neighbor Policy of no outside noise after 10pm and before 8am. Guests must refrain from any outdoor music, noise or other disruptions that may cause a disturbance to the community during quiet hours. Failure to respect quiet hours after an initial warning may result in cancellation of your reservation without refund. 6. No professional photoshoots or video shoots without prior approval. If you’re interested in doing a photoshoot or shooting a video, please let us know what it is for. You must get approval beforehand! If approved, we have an additional fee for licensing and usage. Unauthorized use of the rental property's name, address or images (interior, exterior, or property surroundings) for any commercial, business, sales, or promotional use in any print or electronic media is unlawful and will be pursued to the full extent of the law. 7. No special events such as parties or weddings are allowed without prior written approval. 8. Guests shall allow access to property management vendors or workers during their stay for landscaping, pool/hot tub maintenance, trash removal, any necessary repairs and inspection of premises. 9. No glitter or confetti allowed. Please remove all decorations, if any, by check-out time at 11am on day of checkout. 10. No glass is allowed near the cowboy pool and hot tub area. All food and drinks must be served in plastic containers and dishes. 11. HOT TUB & POOL: There is no lifeguard on duty. There is no pool gate. You swim at your own risk. People can drown or be severely injured by improper use of the hot tub or pool. Guests agree to assume full responsibility of themselves and their guests or invitees and hold the hosts, homeowners, agents, property managers, and any successors harmless of any and all liabilities or claims for their use of the hot tub and pool. Guests must follow safe practices and rules including: - No diving - No intoxicated persons may use hot tub or pool - No use of hot tub or pool alone - Shower or rinse feet before entering pool or hot tub - NO DRINKS in hot tub If you spill anything in the hot tub / pool or if there is any substance that requires us to drain the hot tub, this will incur a $200 surcharge to cover labor, water to refill, electricity to reheat, and spa specialist for ph balancing. 12. Please clean up after yourself. Excessive mess is a $500 cleaning charge. Thank you in advance for treating the home as if it were your own. 13. Illegal or abusive use of the internet is strictly prohibited. Please note the desert is remote and many outside factors can affect WiFi. We cannot guarantee WiFi speeds or connectivity due to outages, neighborhood bandwidth usage, or factors outside of our control due to the WiFi company. Guest contact number of their profile is good to be a 24/7 point of contact for code enforcement violations. We will call twice if we can’t get through and the guest is required to respond within an hour of our initial call to receive notice of any violation - per county ordinance. Otherwise there is a fine of $1,000 USD that the guest is responsible for (fined by the county.) If guests would prefer or need to provide an alternate number, they must do so upon booking. Any violation of local or county laws that result in any fines will be the sole responsibility of the guest 14. Reschedule requests will be handled the same as our cancellation policy. Any reschedule requests less than 14 days out will need to cancel and rebook under our cancellation policy. There will be no refunds issued less than 14 days from check-in. 15. Children 2 years old and above must be included as part of the total guest count. Home is not childproof (ie. Open pool with ladder, no outlet protectors, small objects within reach, etc). Safety is our number one priority. You must assume full responsibility for the safety of any children. 16. Only a maximum of two cars are allowed to park on the property at any given time. 17. You must acknowledge there is surveillance recording on the property - ring cameras at corner of the house facing driveway entrance and surroundings of property. There are no recording devices that face the activity space including hot tub and pool. 18. Please be respectful of the space. There is unique, vintage furniture and decor throughout the home. We value honesty... If something breaks, please let us know. If we discover an item is broken, damaged or missing without any prior written notice, we will charge a replacement fee of $100 per item in addition to the actual cost to replace or repair items. If total cost exceeds the deposit amount, we will bill your credit card or collect the funds through the Resolution Center to cover replacement costs of damaged, missing, or broken items. 19. NO music playing from speakers or amplifiers allowed outdoors at any time. We are in a quiet neighborhood where sound travels easily. Please respect the peace and serenity of the desert community and do not play any outdoor music. Outdoor music from your cell phones or laptops is allowed. 20. GUEST VERIFICATION: Our bookings are protected by SUPERHOG, our trust and safety partner, so we don't need to charge our guests a security deposit (only the minimum amount of $100 required by Airbnb). Because of this we need our guests to verify themselves after the booking is confirmed, which only takes less than a minute and is required prior to arrival. You will be contacted directly by SUPERHOG via text with a url link to start your verification. Upon verification, we will issue you your check-in information. Failure to follow any of the House Rules will be considered a breach of contract resulting in immediate cancellation of reservation without refund and/or withholding part or all of the deposit in addition to any damages sought.
