The space is located on the 3rd floor of The Knowlton. Yes, you will get some exercise, we only have stairs to access this space. The original hardwood floors, high ceilings and a view of the Pequannock River and other notable architectural details permeate this uncommon space with a barn door entry, opening up to 700 square feet - 19’ x 31’ with 14’ ceiling - and 4 oversized windows allowing for great natural light. The space is ideal for Photo Shoots, Video Shoots, Painters, Sculptors, Designers, Writers, or other artists who are looking for a space to grow their creative skill and mindset. There is access to the same-level bathrooms, as-well-as an artist “slop sink” just down the hall. About the building, The Knowlton was once home to the Armstrong Manufacturing Company — a well-known tool and die manufacturer in the 1800s and little known creator of a technologically advanced prototype “horseless carriage” built in 1895, and the first electric car was built at The Knowlton in the 1900’s. This historic, a one-of-a-kind waterfront venue located on the Pequannock River estuary in the Washington Park Historic District on Bridgeport’s East Side. Once referred to as “Pembroke City” — it is an area rich with some of the finest examples of nineteenth century residential architecture in the country — largely due to P.T. Barnum and William Noble, who invested heavily in its development. Today, The Knowlton houses a thriving community of visual artists, cutting edge innovators and production companies, surrounded by a world-class mural park and 3 Event Spaces. We look forward to hosting your shoot!
