About the Space
Welcome to the Black House on Bennett. Located in East Long Beach, this single level duplex is unlike anything you've ever seen. As you approach the main entrance you are welcomed by a waterfall and lush tropical landscaping. Past the main gate you are introduced to a private courtyard featuring a modern water fountain, black bamboo, palm trees, and acapulco chair. You feel transported into a zen tropical oasis. The owner's unit of this Mid-Century duplex has been taken down to the studs and reimagined as a OPEN concept modern design showcasing sun filled floor to ceiling windows and period specific furniture with a minimalist aesthetic. The kitchen features an island (13 ft) with two waterfall edges and modern light fixture centered above. Ample counterspace for food preparation and display. Stainless steel GE appliances and custom cabinets. The living room features La Cantina bi-folding doors blending the indoor and outdoor living spaces. Step out to the private deck (300 sqft) with outdoor lounge and tropical garden. If you're looking for a unique property with versatile accommodations you won't be disappointed.

Location is perfect for any event. Place is even better than it looks with a ton of chairs available. Daniel was super easy to work with and very accommodating.

Daniel has a beautiful house with stunning design. We rented from 5-9pm for our wedding rehearsal dinner party and the house had such a pretty sunset and light. All the guests love the open space where you can open the living room to connect to the backyard. We had a fantastic time there and Daniel is a great host too!

The space was well-decorated and worked well for a small event, however, my experience with the host was not pleasant. 1. The host, Daniel, did not send check-in instructions in a timely manner and I had to reach out to receive the information. He notified me that he would be there to check us in, however, 30 min before check-in, he told me he could not make it and then sent me the information for self check-in. In the busyness of coordinating and setting up for a 30 person event, this was a bit stressful. The self check-in instructions were also very unclear and it took us about 30 min to get into the house. 2. The description of the space online did not match what we experienced. The "private" front courtyard is not private at all, but is shared with an adjacent unit. The garage and uncovered parking space are located at the back of the house, and you have to go through the neighbor's garage to enter the house. The neighbors were having their own party inside the garage, so that entrance was unavailable to use for several hours. None of this was explained in the description online and I was very uncomfortable as I had young children attend my event and the neighbors had alcohol both in the courtyard as well as in the garage, which are shared spaces. 3. Lastly, Daniel accused me of taking 4 of his outdoor blankets without asking any questions. It seems unprofessional to me that he wasn't present at check-in, didn't do a visual scan of the space with me prior to my event, and still accused me of stealing his blankets. There is no way of knowing if those blankets were even present prior to me checking in. Overall, the space was fine, however the experience was not so great, so I will not be booking again, and I would be weary of recommending this space to future customers.
